Description
- - About the room - -
We are a group of friends, most of whom met by living in our four attached cottage houses. Even though the opening is in one of the houses (with two housemates) we are very much a community, so moving in would be joining all of us in our adventures.
• The room is available from the 1st February.
• It has a double bed, a fitted cupboard, a chest of drawers, a small bookshelf and a desk.
• Internet, gas/electric, and council tax are additional (And loo roll! We have an ongoing subscription with Who Gives a Crap); approximately £110pcm.
• The houses are on the old side and could be described as charmingly derelict, quirky and full of character.
- - The property - -
• Though technically in Trumpington, the town centre is 15 minutes away at a leisurely cycle speed, the train station is even closer, we're just down the road from Addenbrooke's Hospital, the M11 is a 5 minute drive away and housemates commute all over the city every day. It’s a pretty convenient location. The closest groceries are about a 5 minute cycle (Nisa and Waitrose).
• We have off-road parking, a green space with apple trees and hammocks, and a garden where some of the housemates grow veg and pretty flowers.
• The kitchen is pretty small but we make it work. We've managed to feed 30 people out of three of the four kitchens for various dinner parties, so it can be done. With the size in mind there’s little room for additional furniture/stuff – just something to bear in mind if that’s something you have lots of.
- - The household - -
• Between the four houses there are ten people ranging from 24 to 35 in age with a mix of genders and sexual identities.
• Your potential housemates are a freelance costume maker and a global health researcher who are 31 and 35. We’re into music, making things (e. g. cider, sewing, woodworking), meditation, river swimming, and nature.
• Other almost-housemates (in attached but technically separate households) include a biology PhD student, a punter (as in, down the river with a pole), an engineer, a researcher, a museum operator, an environmental consultant and a student midwife. So a pretty varied bunch.
• We have a fairly high proportion of vegetarians, and your potential housemates are mostly vegetarian.
• We are a lot like a family; this means we really want to find someone who will be happy living here! We like to be relatively social. People across the houses often eat together, go to the pub, play games, have fires, watch films or tv, go climbing/cycling/play football, go swimming in the river and occasionally go on trips to places. We collectively host a piano, harp, accordion, musical saw, bodhran, melodica, violin, kashakas, and lots of guitars and ukuleles, all that no one can really properly play but we still enjoy. It's not required to be social all the time, but we'd like to find someone who would find that aspect a positive thing.
What we are looking for:
• Someone who is nice, friendly, moderately tidy, and interested in joining in things (not that it's mandatory, just some of the time).
If you've gotten this far and are still interested, send us a message with a bit about yourself and when you are free to see the property. If you’re just looking for a place and not for people, this is probably not the right place.
