Description
Our current house mate is off at the end of April to pursue... something...exactly what we forget, but I'm sure she finds it interesting... so we have a room that needs filling.
The room is in a fantastic house, easily big enough for a double bed and a few spares. We have a huge lounge on the second floor (there are 3!) which overlooks The Moor and the Flushing river with a pair of double doors facing the garden that open onto, well, nothing, but they open and you get a great view. Fortunately, they did have the foresight to put a glass barrier beyond the doors, so you can open them safely in the knowledge that you are protected from the 8ft drop to the wooden decking below... that's right, there is a deck too. It catches the afternoon sun nicely, so it's a great place to relax after a hard day at work, or surfing.
The kitchen is the same size as the lounge, so even with usual kitchen machinery and a big dining room table, there is still space to swing several large cats (never actually tried swinging a large cat, probably illegal and very dangerous). Forward of this (street side of the house), we have a...well...a room...not yet figured out what it's for, so we use it to store our surf boards, windsurf boards (and associated kit), climbing kit, body boards, skim boards, bicycles, drying washing, wetsuits, and a piece of string, all neatly racked and stacked. How do you get all these toys up onto the street and into your automobiles without going through the house and its cream carpets I hear you clamour... well we use the hobit door. A little set of stairs in this toy room takes you up to the street, through a little door specially constructed to be low enough to hit your head on, but just tall enough to make think that maybe this time you will make it.
The bathroom has all the amenities a western person could want, and does what it says on the tin (it isn't in a tin, it's just a saying). You can even enjoy a nice view out of the bathroom window of the docks in the distance whilst showering. Just dont open the window too much or people can see you too.
As for the two of us staying on, well we (as you may have ascertained from the toys) enjoy taking advantage of what Cornwall has to offer; surfing, windsurfing, a bit of a jog here, a cycle there, camping somewhere secluded, sailing on friends boats, catching some of the awesome live music at the pubs around: but also just relaxing with a cider/glass of wine/tea after a long day at work.
