Hello, my name is Nat and I am a live-in landlady. I am sociable and like a cuppa and a chat, and also like my peace and quiet. I've got a really lovely lodger and looking to let another room to someone who would be a good fit with us both. Someone in stable full time work (with only occasional home working, as I work from the kitchen Mon to Fri), clean, tidy, considerate, quiet, non smoker, not a massive drinker, not into drugs (a vegetarian would be a bonus). Someone who recycles and is economical with utilities. Apologies no pets and would not be suitable for children staying.
The house is 10-15 minute walk from centre of Newquay, beaches and the Gannel estuary. Take a look at the photos, I try to keep it nice and a prospective lodger would need to leave any area in the same condition they found it, every time they use it. You will share a shower room with two other people, we are both clean and tidy, keep it clutter free and don't hog the bathroom. There is another wetroom/loo downstairs if needed. There is a shared kitchen/diner where I work from Monday to Friday, so it will suit someone who works outside of the house on most if not all of those days. There is a cosy shared living room with a piano. Please note there is no TV at the property and no TV license, if you use the services you will need to pay your own. (Not required if you only watch Netflix). There is a small sunny rear garden/patio with views towards River Gannel and garden chairs and a table. Lots of flowers and bees. There is a smoke alarm on every floor, a small fire extinguisher and a fire blanket in the kitchen.
We are respectful and keep the noise down so that the house is a restful environment. Definitely not a party house. This is a mid terraced house with neighbours. Would not suit someone who requires a completely silent environment, or is heavy-footed, noisy and slams doors.
The room on offer is a cozy double bedroom with a stunning view of the Gannel estuary. There is a separate deep full height cupboard just outside the room (with a clothes rail and extra storage on top). The room is fully furnished with a double bed and mattress, a chest of drawers, a small desk and a chair, an armchair, bedside tables and lamps. There is woolen carpet (not fixed) and a mirror. The photos make it look smaller than it is. There is more storage in the kitchen, bathroom, hall etc, although not for large bulky items. There is a bike shed.
Please note there is no allocated parking with this property. This is a small yet busy cul de sac and all available spaces are taken by the property owners. If you have a car I would prefer if you parked it in Chynance Drive 30 meters away, the room is being let on this understanding. None of my lodgers so far have had a problem parking within 30-50 meters to the property.
The room is being let as single occupancy. Overnight visitors permitted once or twice a week on average. Would not suit someone expecting to bring strangers home or have their partner around a lot. Family and friends visiting from upcountry absolutely fine. (a small bill contribution will be expected for longer stays).
The room is available on the 1st Sep 2024 and ideally I'm looking for someone long term, at least 6 month +, although shorter stays will be considered.
