The room comes ready to move into: single bed, desk and chair, chest of drawers, built-in wardrobe and plenty of shelving, so there's far more storage than the size suggests. Window overlooking the street, radiator, carpeted.

WHERE IT IS

Gilesgate, DH1 2JF - an easy part of Durham to live in. The city centre, the Cathedral and the riverside walks are around 20 minutes on foot, with bus stops close by if you'd rather ride. Tesco Extra, Aldi and Lidl are all within about ten minutes' walk, so a proper food shop doesn't need planning. You can park on the street directly in front of the house, and there's no permit scheme.

WHAT THE £135 COVERS

Gas, electricity, water, council tax and fast 5G broadband are all included in the rent - one weekly payment and nothing else to sort out.

THE HOUSE

Four bedrooms, currently two female students and one working professional. There's a shared living room, a big back garden, a bathroom upstairs with both a bath and a shower, and a separate toilet downstairs.

The kitchen has an electric cooker with oven and hob, a fridge freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster. Every room gets its own cupboard and fridge shelves and its own freezer drawer, labelled by room, so everyone has their own space and nobody ends up squeezed out. There's a washing machine, drying racks for indoors and a washing line in the garden.

THE DETAILS

Available from 27th September 2026. £135 per week, deposit £550, protected with the DPS. Minimum term 8 months, maximum 12. No smoking, no pets, no couples.
