2 of my tenants have chosen to stay for another year. What a great way for me to say that I look after my house and the tenants!
So I have 2 lovely rooms available in my modern townhouse in Gilesgate area, near to bus stops and in walking distance of supermarkets and shops and approximately 30 minute walk downhill into the city centre and to the university. The house is located in a peaceful cul de sac and many of the nearby houses are occupied by professionals and families.
The cosy room on the 2nd floor overlooking the garden is furnished with a small double bed, wardrobe, large desk and chair. Rent is £575pcm
The large room on the 1st floor overlooking the road (its a quiet cul de sac) is furnished with a double bed, wardrobe, bookshelf, desk and chair. Rent is £675pcm
At present, all tenancies end on 30 June 2026 but can be extended over the summer or for another year. However it is likely that the law will be passed this year to end fixed term tenancies and tenants will only be required to provide 2 months notice of their intended departure date.
The shower room on the 2nd floor is fitted with walk in shower, basin and toilet and is shared by 3 tenants.
The rent includes all bills. A deposit of one month's rent is required in advance and will be held in a tenancy deposit scheme.
Confirmation of your student status and your student ID number must be confirmed with your deposit as the Council require this from me to prove the exemption from Council tax.
You would be sharing with post grad students at Durham university. All the rooms are for single occupancy.
To maintain a harmonious household we're looking for postgrad student tenants who are sociable but respectful of others and willing to take their turn in keeping the house clean and tidy. I issue a cleaning rota for the term.
The shared kitchen/dining area is fully equipped and has space to socialise together looking out onto the garden.
There is a shared toilet on the ground floor and a small room on the top floor for drying your laundry if you prefer not to use the tumble dryer in the garage or hanging your washing on the line in the back garden.
In the summer, you can enjoy sitting in the garden and we ask the tenants to take a turn mowing the lawn!
