Everything is very flexible at the moment.
I am a 56-year-old semi-retired professional married man (John) whose wife (Jeanne) has taken a senior nursing post in London. Jeanne will be in London, normally Sunday evening to Thursday evening/Friday.
We have three adult children, who have all now moved out. We therefore have three potential rooms for a lodger to use. One of them is a double room, the others are both singles. Although we ourselves have a preferred room to let (see photos), we would allow the lodger to chose which of the three bedrooms they wanted - and then I would decorate it to their wishes...within reason. All the potential rooms are a good size and nicely furnished. Our preferred room is in the extension and looks out over the back garden.(Just to be clear: we are seeking just one lodger - or couple - but there is a choice of rooms)
The four bedroom house is just under 2 miles from the city centre - typically, a three to five minute drive/10 minute cycle/30 minute walk. The bus stop is a two minute walk away, with buses about every 10 minutes (6 - 10 minute bus ride to city centre depending on which service & time of day).
Fellside Gardens is a very quiet road wih plenty of parking space...houses just on one side of road.
The A1M is about 2 minutes away, and Newcastle is about 15-20 minutes drive.
Dual carriageway to Sunderland (A690) just one minute away (15 minute drive in total). Buses to both cities also from same bus stop.
Local shops are just around the corner, and Durham Retail Park is about a five minute walk away.
We have a spare room downstairs which we can make into a 'living room' for a lodger if they would like us to.
What Jeanne and I would really like to do is to meet someone and then make arrangements to mutual convenience. We are prepared to accommodate your wishes as well as we possibly can if you would like to lodge here. Final rental amount will need to reflect which room and additional facilities are chosen.
Male would be best, but female also considered if she is comfortable with situation as described.
The best arrangement would be to meet for viewing, and then discuss what would work best.
If a couple would like to have the double bedroom (one of the potential choices) then we would consider this at a slightly higher price.
