I have a Single Bedroom in a light, clean new-build townhouse in Sherburn Hill. The larger of the two is rented out so only the smaller bedroom is still going (bedroom 3 on floorplan 2.4x3m). If you want more or less furniture to maximise your space just say so!
The two rooms have exclusive use of the middle floor bathroom.
Broadband and all utilities are included. Not particularly bothered who I rent to so long as we get along. Price reflects relative awkwardness of the location as it is a bus ride or drive from Durham centre.
I am a live in landlord and have a self contained office/bedroom/ensuite on the top floor. I am a former civil servant who now runs a metalcraft business, so I will be in my garage workshop most weekdays.
You'll be sharing the middle floor bathroom with the other lodger who's a female professional.
Washer/dryer/espresso/spacious fridge freezer. Rooms have own locks.
There is a well kept garden which you can enjoy, street parking and room in my garage if you need to store bikes. The house has an AWESOME cat so you should like them.
Sherburn village is within the Durham City Zone for fares iirc, 10 minutes from the city centre, about 2 miles further East from Gilesgate with regular busses. I can give occasional lifts to the 24hr Tesco, village also has a Co-op.
Feel free to host so long as its relaxed nights like films, games or barbecues - socially I enjoy cycling, going to public lectures/talks that catch my interest and enjoy attending shows by DU's various Jazz, Folk and Orchestral Societies. Not a big drinker but love my coffee!
I am not vegetarian but I have many friends who are, so consider the house vegetarian friendly and I would make effort to arrange the fridge as such.
Deposits to be put into a DPS. Flexible on deposit amount if short period and you have refs. Rooms available immediately.
(If you aren't a student I'd need a contribution towards the council tax - I work it out as the increase from single rate divided by the two rooms, so = £20. Thats the only thing which isn't included!)
