Description
This is a double room with its own sink, king-size bed + built-in storage within a big wardrobe. There is a shared kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and a shared bathroom with shower and bath, although there is potential to make this room an ensuite when money and DIY skills permit.
There is a garden and, if you like gardening, help with weeding and landscaping is always appreciated.
Situated in the desirable Fellside area of Kendal, this will suit a quiet, self-contained, working individual. It is a ten-minute walk down the hill into town (and maybe a 15-minute walk back up!), close to the Brewery Arts Centre (for music, theatre and cinema) and near to woods and open country across a golf course. Parking is by permit on a road just down the hill from the apartment and there is garage space for bikes and possibly even a kayak.
Utility bills are partially included with you being liable for your usage of gas, electricity and water plus 50% council tax for your occupancy (Band D). I encourage an economically and environmentally minded lodger who shares my values of putting on a fleece rather than turning up the heating, being mindful of water usage and turning off lights when not in use, washing hands with cold water to minimise resource use. There are also 8 solar panels on the roof which help generate daytime electricity for washing machine and dishwasher and a smart meter so you're aware of usage.
Your landlord and housemate: I'm generally a solitary person who mainly works at home but can also love to be out and about. I enjoy scrabble, outdoor activities and interesting company (obviously this is subjective but I'm more inclined to scientific/political/cultural/philosophical thought than daily gossip!). I'm more a morning person rather than a night owl so would prefer someone inclined to early nights or socialising outside of the house. For me, sharing a house works through co-operation, communication and compromise when needed; acceptance and respect of quirks and lifestyle; and a need for living compatibility, rationality, humour/banter and honesty. Please also bring a warm, light energy, not taking your self too seriously!
I'm looking for a suitable lodger and house companion, ideally who takes responsibility for some cleaning and maintenance - if you are in need of accommodation and any of this resonates with you, do be in touch.
I have been trying to sell the house to no avail, but my plan is to keep it on the market, subject to changes of course!
