Description

We are a house-share of older (not sure about the mature bit!) professionals, in a rambling country house with superb views. Laid back, clean, relaxed and sociable. Furnished to a high standard, with top of the range kitchen appliances, fast fibre optic broadband, and power showers in the bathrooms. Rent is inclusive of all bills.

The “Yellow Room” is a large, sunny room with fantastic views over countryside towards the Lake District. It is newly decorated, with solid wood furniture, a comfortable armchair, original art, and plenty of storage. It is served by a shower room with power-shower shared with one other (very clean) lodger. Rent is inclusive of all bills and Council Tax @ £625 per month.

Ideal for the independent professional, the house is set up for long term residents. It is big enough to have your own space or to seek company as takes your mood. Current/recent residents include engineers, senior management, National Park staff/associates, health professionals and teachers /lecturers.

The house is comfortably furnished with rugs, lamps and antiques. The living room has an inglenook with wood burner, leather sofas, dining table and TV. The kitchen has an American fridge-freezer, induction range cooker & dishwater; with washing machine & dryer in the boiler room. Parking is off-road and you are welcome to enjoy the gardens and orchards.

The house sits in its own grounds in peaceful countryside with easy access to the main roads. It is 10 miles from Carlisle, 10 miles from the Lake District and 10 miles from the Solway coast. The Georgian market town of Wigton is 2 miles away, with a regular train service to the West Coast mainline.

Emma, the owner, lives on-site and runs the attached smallholding. She has been hosting lodgers for over 25 years, and appreciates that this is your home. She nurtures a culture of mutual respect to ensure a happy, relaxed household.

"Couldn't feel more at home! In beautiful countryside, Emma as owner couldn't be more supportive or helpful. If you're wanting flexibility, lovely character filled surroundings and a genuine home from home, you absolutely cannot go wrong" Rhona, past inmate.

“My stay at longthwaite house was nothing short of brilliant. It is truly a welcoming home with everything you could wish for in a home. While staying in the blue room, I knew I could come home from work and relax in the quietness of the bedroom or socialise with the other tenants by the fire which was always a welcome sight especially on winter days. The communal feel to longthwaite is something that I very much enjoyed being part of, we would often take turns in cooking a group meal and this was always a fun evening with a few drinks involved too. Emma once said to me that longthwaite was a place to recover and I wholeheartedly agree and part of my time in the house was spent recovering from a car accident. In that time I got to help out on the farm, do jobs within the house and be of any help to Emma that I could and it made me even more happy to be living there. It would definitely be my recommendation to anyone who lives there to get stuck in and not be afraid of getting your hands dirty! I will miss the views from the bedroom, the sheep (especially rupert) and the homely feel of what is truly an amazing place to live. I can't thank Emma enough for making me feel part of the longthwaite family and will always hold memories of my 18 months there highly.” Mark, recent inmate

As a house-share, we share the cleaning for the shared areas. Additional room cleaning and bedding hire / laundry can be included by negotiation.
