Description

This is a rare opportunity for a lodger to live in the heart of the Peak District in Bakewell, surrounded by views of the countryside, 13 miles from Chesterfield (nearest train station), 17 miles from Sheffield and 32 miles from Nottingham and Manchester. There is ample parking space next to the house. It is a 5-minute walk downhill to the town centre with shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes, a weekly market and the bus stop which provides a regular service to Sheffield, Chesterfield, Matlock, Ashbourne and Derby.

Our house is a large Victorian family 5 bedroom house with many original features, located in a quiet residential road opposite the church. It is set in 1.5 acres of beautiful gardens with stunning views of Bakewell from the front and fields at the back. You have shared use of all the garden areas, a veranda and three patios with tables and chairs.
All five bedrooms and bathrooms are on the first-floor. Your bedroom is newly decorated and refurbished providing a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and desk with in-room hot drink facilities. Pillows, winter and summer duvets, bedding and towels are included. You have a private shower room immediately next to your room and shared use of the toilet and bathroom opposite your bedroom. There is an adjacent study and private sitting area with TV. You have use of a shared fridge freezer and cooking facilities in the main kitchen with an Aga as well as an annexe kitchen and utility room with an electric oven, microwave, washing machine and drying facilities.

I live with my husband who is retired. I work part-time in the NHS mostly from home. We are non-smokers. We are occasionally visited by a cat but have no regular pets. We are often busy gardening and also enjoy walking, cycling, golf and skiing. We are frequently visited by family and friends and like to travel.

We are looking to welcome a lodger ideally a professional or student for at least 3 months, hopefully longer. We love meeting new people and would really enjoy someone to make themselves at home here. We are friendly and laid back, but like to keep our house tidy and clean and would expect you to ensure this in all the areas you use.

The property is in council tax band G. The monthly rental of £750 includes all bills, council tax and high-speed internet. There is a 20% reduction for Monday to Friday rentals (ie lodgers who do not require weekend accomodation). We arrange a contract, ID verification and reference checks for our mutual security.
