Description
Live two minutes walk from The Quay, with its stylish bars and restaurants. Relax at the riverside every day and enjoy being on the best cycle route in Exeter.
This fairly large double bright room (18 square metres, 4.0 x 3.8 m plus a walk-in wardrobe 3.5 x 1.0 m) has two large triple-glazed windows facing south and south-west, and so gets midday and afternoon sun.
The room has a comfortable double bed with a new firm mattress, a dresser with drawers, shelving, and a TV point. The house and the room have underfloor central heating which keeps your feet warm in winter and gives a lovely subtle heat; the windows are both triple-glazed and argon-filled and this muffles most noise from outside. There’s wireless broadband all over the house. There's a ventilation system with a vent in every room.
There is a very large shared kitchen/ dining room with a gas oven and hob, microwave, shared freezer; you will share a fridge with just 1 person. There’s a large stylish shared double-height living room with a log burning stove and a TV with a DVD player. The living room has a beautiful modern vaulted ceiling and the open-plan living area is flooded with light. There are 3 balconies, facing east, south and west.
You have use of a fair-sized bathroom with toilet and shower. Only you and one other lodger use the shower. There's an extra toilet as well. There’s space in the lobby for a bicycle and residents’ parking permits are £30 for a year; on-street parking is usually fairly easy to find because the permit system is effective. There’s a small, sunny private walled garden with a washing line.
Locally, Browns Brasserie and the Co-op shop are only one minute’s walk. Within 5 minutes walk are: Marks & Spencer’s Food Hall, Next, Boots, the Riverside Gym & Swimming Pool, The Quay Climbing Centre, Saddles & Paddles Canoe Hire, The Puerto Lounge, The Waterfront, Bar Venezia, Samuel Jones pub, The Prospect pub and a fish restaurant on the Quay.
There’s a bus service to the city centre and Matford every 10 minutes (Green Line). Exeter St Thomas train station is 7 minutes walk away with regular services to Paignton, Barnstaple and Exmouth as well as 6 other train stations in Exeter, including Exeter Central & St David's.
The rent is £630 per month (approx £150/week) reflecting our centrality. The rent includes gas, electricity, Council Tax and water. It’s unusual to find such a central location, with a garden, that’s also on a quiet street.
No smokers or capers; no use of recreational drugs permitted in garden or house.
Lodgers must also be employed, not work from home more than 1 day/week and must pay their own rent. People with well-behaved cats are welcome!
You’ll be sharing with Stuart and Carlos. Stuart speaks some German, Italian & French whilst Carlos speaks Portuguese; and so people of all nationalities are welcome here.
We are particularly keen to find housemates who try to minimise their carbon footprint, because this is an Eco-house and we try to live with the planet in mind, but pragmatically and without being eco-zealots.
Please WhatsApp or text, rather than emailing, to schedule an initial WhatsApp video tour and chat with Stuart. Once we know you are definitely interested, it will be possible to visit in person and meet both Carlos and Stuart.
