Lodger wanted for room in a newly restored house (5 years ago) on Queen’s Park road. I've had a few great lodgers but the most recent one has bought her own place an will be moving out. I am looking to get someone moved in in the middle of February but am flexible on dates for the right person.
The room on offer is on the back of the house overlooking the garden . The room has a fireplace (not useable), a double bed and mattress, chest of drawers, mirror, and sideboard, or the room can be unfurnished if you'd prefer. Not quite an en-suite, but immediately outside the room is a very clean toilet and shower room that’s shared.
A minute’s walk is Queens Park itself which very nice with a duck pond and lots of greenery, or 5 minutes in the other direction is the Level and London Road or Lewes Road with plenty of shops. It’s ten minutes walk to the beach.
I am looking for a lodger, not a housemate or tenant, so please make sure you know the difference and are comfortable with that. The areas available to you are the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen, and the garden too, although it requires some work. All bills are included. I also have an energetic young dog who we are training, so ask that you are respectful of that when interacting with him (no naughty treats!), although he's not often around as he usually lives elsewhere.
I’m 36, work in construction so get up early and sometimes work night shifts, I’m not up for a party environment anymore so am looking for someone with a similar mindset who is quiet, clean and respectful and won’t bring friends round. My previous lodgers have been masters students and professionals who kept themselves to themselves mostly, which suits me. I'm sure my current lodger wouldn't mind chatting with you by way of a reference after the preliminary stages of meeting if you liked.
A cleaner will visit the house once a week and clean your room every fortnight.
It’s important that I know the house is in good hands when I’m not around so ask for basic safety stuff like no candles in the room and to stay in the kitchen if you’re using the gas hob etc.
