Room in big friendly vegetarian house share

We've got a lovely double room going in our beautiful + sociable house shared between 7 of us in our 20s + 30s.

Our place is a proper home, and not just a place to sleep. This house has been a shared space and a labour of love between people looking to co-live together for over 10 years, so we are looking for someone who's up for living communally with us. This means - being up for joining our vegan cooking rota, doing a weekly cleaning task, and helping out with shared tasks such as bulk food ordering + gardening. In exchange you get to enjoy the beauty of shared living, shared laughs, shared support, and very delicious shared meals!

We take it in turns to cook vegan meals for each other on evenings via our cooking rota. We ask people to sign up roughly 3 evenings a month to cook - and in exchange you get to enjoy a boutny of delicious vegan meals on other nights. We also share a cleaning rota to make sure the space stays tidy, and you have a weekly task to do.

There’s a big living room with two couches and a slightly out of tune piano, a big kitchen and dining room with gas hobs and a grassy garden. The house is up a hill looking out over some of the best views in Brighton. We're on a very idyllic street looking out over some woods above Bevendean and onto the South Downs, with super convenient access to some amazing green spaces. It’s a 15 minute walk from Moulsecoombe station, 40 minute walk into town (or 15 on a bike!) and 10 minutes to the next bus stop at Lewes road. (Mithras house / Brighton uni). There is also a bus that goes up the hill every 30 min.

We don’t have a TV in the shared living spaces, but we do have a projector for watching films on, and there’s a garage we can store bikes in. We all work various day jobs ranging from carpenters, charity workers, gardeners, and data people. We are a queer friendly household <3 It tends to be quietish in the evenings with our socialising based around shared meals (but you don't have to be there for every meal!), or hanging out around each other in the living room. At the weekends we’re up for making merry be that in a pub, dance floor or boogying round our living room. A lot of us are quite musically minded so expect some funny noises coming out of the house :))

The room is a double room is on the ground floor with doors out into the garden and is available at £637 a month from 1st of January (although the rent might be going up a bit at the start of the year but it shouldn't be by much). It is part furnished with bed and some furniture, currently has a single but the landlord can replace with a double.

This includes all bills and we use some of that money to bulk buy food essentials (oat milk, coffee, etc), toilet paper and cleaning products for the house. We have a good relationship with the private landlord.
