Large double room in sunny Fiveways house, £650 pc

Large double bedroom, two shared bathrooms, large, shared kitchen/dining room and sunny garden in Brighton. It’s a 10-minute bus ride or 30-minute walk to the sea and centre of town. The house is available for a minimum of six months from September 7, 2026. It would particularly suit a female PhD or Postgraduate student or young professional, because I am female and live in the house.

I’m Julia, I work at one of the local universities and am looking for someone to rent a room and share the house with me. It’s a friendly, relatively quiet house – my daughter and her boyfriend sometimes pop down from London to stay, and friends visit. My last lodger lived here happily for 3 years, only leaving to take a new job in her country. I may get a cat within the next year.

I’m easy going but keep shared areas clean and tidy, so am looking for someone who will see this as their home with a similar approach. I’m relatively busy but always happy to have a friendly chat over a coffee.

The light, spacious house is near Blakers Park, a five-minute walk from shops at Fiveways, including a mini supermarket (Co-op), bakeries, cafes, deli and pubs. London Road station is a ten-minute walk away to access Sussex/Brighton universities or Brighton main Station; there are also buses to the universities and town. There is a side passageway for bike storage.

The house has gas central heating, a washing machine, utility room to hang washing, dishwasher and all other conveniences. It has a large, shared kitchen/dining room with table, chairs and sofas. There are two shared bathrooms with basins and toilets, one with a bath and shower, the other with a shower. The showers are powerful and can be used simultaneously. There is a sunny garden with decking, tables and chairs.

Your double bedroom is at the back of the house, overlooking the garden so it is quiet. It has a stripped wooden floor, double-bed, built-in cupboard, chest of drawers, desk, bookcase, bedside table and armchair. The bedroom is being repainted white.

It is £650 a calendar month, including bills (gas, electricity, water rates, internet, Council Tax) with a refundable security deposit of £650; two references are required.
