Description
Good size, south facing double room overlooking a garden. Its currently furnished with a double bed, TV unit with TV and firestick, desk, chair, bedside table and lamp, shoe rack, laundry basket and towel rail
The room has a small wardrobe for clothes and some shelves and access to the eaves for storing bulkier items.
There is a separate shower room downstairs that you'd have use of as we have our own bathroom upstairs in the loft conversion. There's also a separate fridge freezer and larder in the kitchen that you can use for your food and drinks.
The kitchen has an oven, grill, gas hob, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, washing machine, Kenwood mixer, blender and food processor, bread machine, Nespresso machine, a heated clothes rail and dehumidifier for drying clothes.
The kitchen diner is typically the social hub as it has a couple of sofas near the back windows over the garden and a big dining table. There's also a separate living room with a TV and surround sound system to watch films and TV.
The garden is the main reason we moved into the house its a lovely sunny, quiet, south facing space where we get a lot of birds visiting, some foxes, squirrels and the odd frog. We have a pond with goldfish and it has a big decking area outside the back door, a large patio, a planted area with banana plants, fig tree, cherry tree and some big Chinese rice paper plants and at the back of the garden there is a sunken firepit along with an outside toilet and kitchen. The summer house is still to be renovated inside so its currently outside storage for cushions and garden furniture.
Location wise, its about 10mins walk to Aldrington station, we're right on the 5 bus route and the 5A and 5B go from the nearby Coop under 5mins walk away and take you into town via Hove in about 30-40mins. Theres also the new 3X bus which goes out to the University and leaves from just up the hill in Hangleton. Portslade station is about 15-20mins walk west, Hove Park about 20mins walk east, Hove station about 25mins walk. You can also walk down to the seafront via Poets Corner and Portland Road in around 20mins.
Its non permit parking on the street. We also have a drive and don't own our own car so a car could be parked on the driveway when we're not needing the space ourselves.
All bills and fast fibre internet is included in the rent but subject to normal use of water and heating.
A bit about us, me and Emma are married, no kids, we both met in a houseshare in Hove and have been living together around Brighton and Hove ever since. We also have a small 10 year old rescue dog from Romania called Amber (she looks a bit like a Corgi crossed with a Pomeranian) who's very quiet and easy going unless you're a cat, squirrel or fox. She is very food oriented so she will take interest in you when you're cooking or eating but is very well behaved and keeps herself to herself most of the time but will often come to greet people at the door for a head scratch.
Me and Emma are used to sharing with other people over the years and have been hosting younger foreign students for over a year now but as those tend to be over the summer and vary in how long they stay we are looking at getting in a lodger to make better use of the larger spare room in the house for a longer period. We're fairly flexible around length of stay as we're used to people staying for a few months or just for a few weeks.
Me and Emma typically work from home 3 days a week and commute the other two so our weeknights are mostly around cooking and eating dinner, catching up and then watching an episode of something. We enjoy sharing meals with people we live with if thats something that they also like but we're also happy to take care of ourselves. We are omnivores so tend to eat a mix of vegetarian, meat and fish meals and we eat foods from all over the world. We drink socially, more on weekends than on work nights and we don't smoke.
Weekends we like the outdoors, meeting people for a drink or something to eat and we both love going to a drum and bass gig or going to the local festivals in town like Great Escape, Psyche Fest, Pride or Mutations. We also like taking Amber out for long walks in the countryside and often meet up with friends for a walk and a pub lunch exploring somewhere new.
We both enjoy travelling, we have lived in a motorhome going through southern europe for 5 months and we're both keen scuba divers so we've gone through a lot of south east asia exploring the waters and islands in that part of the world.
