Description

We have a lovely double room to rent in our house in east Kemptown, a couple of minutes from the beach and the downs.

It’s a warm and cosy space with a double bed, large built-in wardrobe, decorative fireplace, bedside table, a desk and chest of drawers. The room has a nice big window facing the back of the property.

The house

Overall the house is very roomy, with a bright and cosy living room at the front and a very large open-plan kitchen and dining room at the back. Plus a good-sized courtyard garden complete with rose bushes, herb garden and apple trees.

The house has a bathroom with bath and shower which you will be sharing with just one other person, plus there is also a downstairs WC. We also have a large cellar with space for storage, should you need it.

Location

We’re on a quiet residential street that looks onto the sea. The house is two minutes’ walk from Lidl, two minutes from the seafront, five minutes from the marina (including big Asda), five minutes from a little Coop, five minutes from the downs, 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of Kemptown, the hospital etc. The area is a bit of a hidden gem, with amazing coffee shops, lovely pubs and two independent breweries within a couple of minutes' walk.

Us

We (James and Martha) bought the place as our first home a couple of years ago, after moving to Brighton from London. We love hanging out on the beach and attempting to grow fruit and veg in the back garden. James is keen on cycling, swimming and recreating amazing brunches he’s sampled elsewhere. He works in property, mostly from home. Martha likes yoga, walking, reading and experimental baking. She's a journalist and also mainly working from home. We also have one other wonderful flatmate, who is a junior doctor.

We also have a very sweet, gentle and loving cat called Timmy. He loves to come and have cuddles when we're having a film or boardgames night. He will also try his best to sleep in your bed if you let him (no obligation to let him though!) - so we are definitely looking for a cat-lover!

(The dog in the images however, is not ours - just a friend's who happened to be visiting!)

You

We are looking for a chilled, sociable, clean and tidy housemate who’d like to be part of a nice friendly home, and who would like to join in with the odd movie night or dinner. The house is right by the downs and the sea, so ideal for anyone into running, hiking or sea swimming.

The room is for single occupancy, and non-smokers only. Let us know in your message a bit about yourself, what you do for a living and what you’re looking for.

Bills etc.

All bills included: gas, electricity, water, council tax, internet, plus a fortnightly cleaner for the common areas.

There is residents permit parking on the street if you need it (not included) - we are Zone H, no waiting list, and it's amazingly easy to find a space to park on the street.
