Description

Come join us in creating a warm home where we live communally and create a joyful and uplifting way of being together.

How we live:
- We’re a vegan household, we eat dinner together and share cooking during the week and love brunch on the weekends.
- We split costs equally for food and bills
- Queer and open loving household, freedom of expression
- We make time to hang out together, make music, be creative and long chats on the couch with tea
- Chilled during the week, we love to go out and dance with friends at the weekend and occasionally host themed house parties and events.
- Shared responsibilities in the house
- Regular house meetings and weekly house fun nights
- Our house is a social hub and we have many friends that we love to spend time with and often have people over for small gatherings (dinners, music nights), bigger events, staying over.
- We sometimes host refugees or others in our guest room
- We see living together communally as a way to be anti-capitalist, by embracing an ethos of love in the way that we care for each other and share our space, time, food etc. with the people we live with.

About you:
-You love to cook (for others) and to share meal times with others
- You want to be part of a house that has a sense of community, building a family feel and looking to really connect with each other.
- you get excited by the idea of living in a buzzing social house and joining us in hosting parties, dinners etc
- A good person: not transphobic, homophobic, racist or misogynistic.
- Happy to take on responsibilities within the house
- Want to create joyful and uplifting moments together
- You are flexible and adaptive and happily flow with other people’s energy
- You believe that a house is for living in and accept that this sometimes comes with messiness as we create joy and uplifting moments (which doesn’t mean being dirty or unsanitary).

This house is probably not for you if:
- You need a lot of quiet and silence in communal spaces and prefer to spend most of your time by yourself in your room
- You are seeing the house just as a room, rather than a place to build community
- You like things very neat and tidy all the time and are particular in the way you like to organise your living space.
- You eat meat

The House
This is a listed first and second floor flat in Kemptown, a stone's throw from the beach. It has high ceilings and big windows, making it very bright. It has 3 communal areas: kitchen, living room and the 'mush'room (our spare room for TV and guests). The living room and the kitchen are the heart of the house and we spend much time together here, cooking, eating and chatting and making music. There's a small balcony from the living room with sea views (a great spot for your morning coffee!). There's 1 bathroom that has a shower, toilet, bath and there's a separate toilet room.

The room:
This is a large double room (about 12m2). It has a large west-facing window and two built- in cabinets. It has enough space for a double bed, wardrobe, desk and other furniture items. It is on the top floor of the maisonnette (3rd floor).

The housemates:
Mieke (she/her): 35-year old, works as research fellow at the Institute of Development Studies undertaking participatory action research to tackle problems like child labour in Nepal and Bangladesh. Passionate about making the world a better place. Loves dancing, beach volleyball, cooking, reading, spending time with friends, camping, festivals. Often busy plotting the next fun thing to do with friends

Rob (He/Him): 36-year old, works as a high school teacher of Business trying to make education as post-capitalist and empowering as possible, enjoys cycling, beach volleyball, cooking elaborate meals, bringing people together for fun, and having a boogie in any situation. Switches easily between being wildly productive and then embracing cosy sloth vibes.

Marianne (she/her): 26-year-old, first-year PhD student at the University of Sussex exploring new ways to assess gorilla wellbeing. Always ready for a gig and a dance, be it to cheesy pop, metal, techno or country. D&D newbie. Love to get creative through drawing or painting. Often found exclaiming how pretty the world is, especially when on a hike or just walking past the seafront.
