Description
Hi and welcome to my advert seeking a nice flatmate for the double room in my flat where I also live.
The building its self is under 10 mins walk to the hospital, Asda, Colchester train station, and Highwoods Country Park, so would be handy for a commuter or someone who works at the hospital perhaps. It is about 25 mins walk to the high street and 5 mins drive from the A12.
The flat is a 2 bedroom on the top (4th) floor and has a lift and nice views with a juliette balcony in the kitchen which is open plan. It is furnished to a high standard, very clean with cosy, chilled vibe.
There is kerbside parking in the neighbourhood and it is rarely difficult to find a space very near home, but the room doesn't come with a dedicated parking space unfortunately.
Some info about me:
I’m 38, lived here for 7 years and work for the NHS. I rent out my room to help with the bills, but I also just like living with someone else, because it’s (generally lol) nice. I am gay (if it matters) quite a cheerful, relaxed, considerate and friendly person with a silly sense of humour. I’m a bit of a hippie in my soul, so I’m vegetarian and pretty left wing politically.
What I’d love in a flatmate:
As I work in mental health and have to deal with some harrowing stuff during the day, I need the home, and the person I’m sharing with to be drama free, reliable, stable and calm (which I will offer in return) If you’re veggie also, that would be amazing!
I would also need my flatmate to be trustworthy and safety conscious around the home. (So like, just don’t burn it down or smash it up or anything OK? :P)
What might make an unsuitable match:
Someone chaotic who had fish for dinner every night, had their mates over all the time, wasted energy, trashed the flat, was always drunk and was also in the EDL would be a bad match . Also, someone who worked from home or worked nights wouldn’t be ideal, because it’s open plan and I work a shift pattern (Days)
The room is furnished with:
• Small double bed with an Otty brand hybrid mattress (this has always had a waterproof mattress topper to keep it completely clean which will be replaced for the new flatmate)
• 55 inch LED Smart TV
• Chest of drawers
• Wardrobe
• Storage chest in hallway
The rent is £550 per month including bills/service charge/council tax/internet. The rent is worked out based on 1 person and is a competitive rate, so it wouldn’t include having anyone else staying over more than 1 night per week (I also apply that rule to myself as with any of the others)
£550 deposit, plus 1st month rent upon moving in. Room available from the end of Nov 2024.
