Description
🛏️ The Rooms
Two double bedrooms are available to rent from Sunday 28 September 2025 in a newly renovated terraced house in the seaside area of Westcliff-on-Sea in Southend-on-Sea. Westcliff train station is a 15-minute walk downhill with direct and regular trains running into London city centre (Fenchurch Street).
The rent is £600 per month including bills (i. e., council tax, electricity, gas, broadband, and TV license). Single occupancy per room - no couples and over 30’s preferred as this is a mature household but this is not a deal breaker if you are a mature individual. No social welfare benefits accepted as rent, and you must be working and/or studying full-time. Deposit is one month’s rent in advance, with employer and landlord references required.
Each bedroom has a double bed, 1-2 chest of drawers, a bedside locker, clothing rail, full mirror, and one bedroom has a desk and office chair if you need to study or work from home. One of the bedrooms is in the attic which has a pitched roof so this would suit someone of a smaller stature as the ceiling is lower in places. The stairs up to the attic is also narrow and steep which may not suit everyone. There is a communal bathroom on the 1st floor with an electric shower and a toilet downstairs off the kitchen.
The kitchen, on the ground floor, has a double sized electronic oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine, small dishwasher and storage space with cutlery and crockery for everyone to use. There is a nook at the back of the kitchen with a couch, smart TV and sideboard for extra storage, with double doors leading out to the garden. Gas central heating throughout the house.
🏡 The House
There is a small garden at the back which gets lots of sunshine and has a washing line to hang out clothes to dry. There is free on street parking directly in front of the house, but it is a first come first served basis. Strictly no smoking or e-cigarettes/vaping inside or on the grounds of the house.
📍 Location Highlights
The local area in Westcliffe is nice with the following amenities:
• Lots of small pubs and bars, cafes and restaurants on the high street (London Rd) around the corner
• Westcliff train station is a 15-minute walk downhill with direct and regular trains to London city centre (Fenchurch Street Station)
• Co-op supermarket and a Tesco Express (both open 7.00am to 10.00pm) are a few minutes walk away
• Chalkwell Park and Priory Park are both about 10 minutes’ walk away
• The beach at Southend where you can swim is a 15-minute walk downhill
• Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre with a 25-metre swimming pool, gym, and exercises classes is a 10-minute drive away
• Westcliff Library (with free computers, Wi-Fi, printing, books, study spaces etc) is 10 minutes walk
• The Plaza Theatre is a 2–3-minute walk away and the Odeon Southend cinema is a 25-minute walk or short bus/taxi journey away
• Southend University Hospital is a 15-minute walk away in case of any emergencies
👥 Your Housemates
It is not a party house as it is a quiet residential area with families and retired people. The rooms would suit mature working professionals or postgraduate students studying at Masters or PhD level as the house is quiet during the day and has a chilled, relaxed vibe in the evenings and weekends. Everyone that lives here is respectful, kind, and we keep the house and shared spaces reasonable clean and tidy but its never spotless as I have a little dog who is a 4-year-old female collie cross.
She stays with me in the front living room during the day and evening as I work from home most of the time, so she does not bother anyone in the house. She is vaccinated, wormed, spayed, and toilet trained and only barks if someone comes to the front door. Otherwise, she is quiet, friendly, and well behaved. However, she is very territorial so she does not like other dogs or pets in the house and hence no other pets can be in the house.
