Description
Double bedroom with use of whole ground floor and garden of lovely old Tudor cottage in Eastington, available from beginning of November for different options of short-term lets: Monday-Fridays only; weekends or short stays; or for 3 months, possibly more.
Set in a cluster of cottages tucked away at the end of a short lane, with fields around, small river in earshot, it's semi-rural, with village amenities in walking/cycling distance.
The canal is close by with easy walking/cycling to Stonehouse and Stroud. Nearest Railway stations at Stonehouse, and Cam & Dursley.
Also close to the M5 Stroud junction 13, (so easy to drive to Bristol, Gloucester, Cheltenham etc..)
My partner and I are artists and museum installation makers. We're restoring & redecorating things ourselves gradually, so the house & garden are in a mixed state of work in progress and uniquely redesigned. The cottage garden is full of flowers and herbs, with a paved area, veg bed and small pond. If you like to do a bit of gardening you're welcome :)
Rooms to share: kitchen, bathroom, sitting room, utility room/workbench, small covered back yard, garden and patio
Facilities: wood burner, internet, washing machine. Outside fireplace.
Parking is at the end of the quiet no through lane, ( a few metres before the row of cottages) and there is space to pull into the garden for loading/unloading..
We are looking for someone mature (whatever their age) who appreciates and respects this secluded funky home. We often rent for chunks of a few months at a time, coinciding with when we are working away; then whoever is here has the place to themselves, most or all of the time and then a housekeeper/friend is point of contact. If back for a short period during that time, I may do some maintenance jobs and live more on the floor above.
At the moment, I am trying something different as I stay based here while spending some days and nights away locally looking after family.
So I am now offering shorter lets for Mon-Fri worker weeks, or days/weekends. I will be 'living in' and sharing the space some of the time, and aiming to work around lodgers to give each other plenty of own time and space.
£160/week Mon-Fri lets, £40/night (minimum 2 night stays), bills included
or
£250/week 7 days a week, + the following energy bills calculated according to use of:
heating oil, gas, electricity
(Included: council tax, water, broadband.
£600 deposit up front please.
No TV licence.
Wood for woodturner can be arranged as extra
Regular housekeeper for some additional cleaning included
If you think you'll feel at home in this peaceful spot and own-made place, we'd love to hear from you. Please tell us a bit about yourself and what you need, and I can write more about the house and us too.
