Description
Double bedroom with use of the entire ground floor and garden of a charming old Tudor cottage in Eastington. The room is available from early November, in various short-term rental options: Monday to Friday stays, weekend or short breaks, or for a three-month period with the possibility of extension.
Set in a cluster of cottages tucked away at the end of a short lane, with fields around, small river in earshot, it's semi-rural, with village amenities in walking/cycling distance.
The canal is close by with easy walking/cycling to Stonehouse and Stroud. Nearest Railway stations at Stonehouse, and Cam & Dursley.
Also close to the M5 Stroud junction 13, (so easy to drive to Bristol, Gloucester, Cheltenham etc..)
My partner and I are artists and museum installation makers. We're restoring & redecorating things ourselves gradually, so the house & garden are in a mixed state of work in progress and uniquely redesigned. The cottage garden is full of flowers and herbs, with a paved area, raised vegetable bed and small pond. (enthusiasts of gardening are welcome to participate and harvest).
Rooms to share: kitchen, bathroom, sitting room, utility room/workbench, small covered back yard, garden and patio
Facilities: wood burner, internet, washing machine, amp & speakers, piano. Outside fireplace,, lockable shed for eg storing a bike.
The house is at the end of the no-through lane, and parking is a few metres before the row of cottages, with space pull into the garden for loading and unloading.
We are seeking a mature individual (regardless of age) who will appreciate and respect this secluded, distinctive home.
Currently, I am offering shorter-term rental for Monday to Friday workweeks or weekend stays. As I come and go, spending some weeks away and returning to support family locally, I plan to share the space at certain times while respecting each other's privacy.
If this arrangement suits you and you are looking for a longer rental period, please get in touch letting me know what you are looking for ideally, and see below for rates.
Rental rates:
- £160 per week for Monday to Friday stays, or £40 per night (minimum two nights), bills included.
- Alternatively, £250 per week for a full 7-day stay, plus additional energy costs based on actual usage, covering heating oil, gas, and electricity.
Included in the rent are council tax, water, and broadband. A deposit of £600 is required in advance.
Please note: No TV licence is included. Firewood for the woodburner can be arranged at an additional cost. A regular housekeeper provides some additional cleaning.
If you feel this peaceful, creatively-influenced space might be suitable for you, we would love to hear from you. Please tell us a little about yourself and your requirements, and I will be happy to provide more information about the house, area and ourselves.
