I am 85 years old - recently widowed and used to having someone living in as my wife had carers for 5 years. Now that she is gone and I am here alone I would like to find someone that would like a place to live in return for light duties involving cooking, some housekeeping, and some pet care.

About the role: We are seeking a trustworthy, self-motivated, and discreet live-in domestic support woman to assist with the smooth running of a private household in the Cotswolds. This position is focused on household management, light cooking, tidying, errands, and general assistance with day-to-day domestic needs. But, it also is a companion role for the owner who has been recently widowed. This is a unique opportunity to live rent-free in a beautiful countryside home set in 160 acres of private land, with rural views and direct access to local walks and nature.
Key responsibilities:
• Very small amount of general housekeeping (cleaning, tidying, laundry, ironing)
• Lunch and dinner meal planning, preparation and cooking
• Receiving deliveries as needed
• Contributing to a clean, organized, and welcoming home environment
• Occasional pet care – owner has three dogs
Working Hours & Benefits:
• To be adjusted weekly as needed, maximum 5 hrs per day x 6 days
• Rent-free private accommodation with WiFi
• Full board (all meals included)
• Use of 160 acres of scenic grounds
• Easy access to beautiful walks and local countryside
• Amount of pay would be based on experience and suitability for the job.
• 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
• Walking distance (1 mile) to small village with two pubs, grocery store and news agency.
Ideal Candidate:
• Likes horses and dogs and happy living with dogs
• Experience in a similar domestic or housekeeping role or a relevant personal background
• Trustworthy, discreet, and high standards of personal cleanliness
• Friendly, flexible, and able to work independently
• Able to maintain privacy and discretion at all times
• Valid UK driving license an asset but not a requirement
• Fluent in English
• Ideally some use for free time at home like working from home or education on line, or something similar that would use time not doing duties but still be here.
• Understands the personal aspects of the situation and comfortable with the owner and the estate manager who would be the two key people to be involved with daily.
