Description
2 double rooms to let in a family house in Barking. The rooms are next to each other on the first floor of the house and they share one bathroom. The first room (we call it Grey Tartan) is a bit smaller, but still has a lot of storage and a comfy double bed. The second bedroom (we call it Morning Sunrise) has a a double bed, very tall wardrobe and a desk to work on. These rooms can be rented separately, with one person in each, or it can be also perfect for a couple who would like to sleep in one and use the other one as an office.
The bathroom has been just renovated and a spacious modern shower has been installed.
Downstairs there is a living room, a galley kitchen, a small WC which are shared. The kitchen has all the utensils you may need, a big cooker, fridge, washing machine, and good cupboards. There is a door to the garden from the kitchen (with a cat flap), which we keep open most all the time when we are in.
All together there 3 people living in the house now: us (the landlords) who live on the 2nd floor in our own studio, and one permanent tenant who has her own en suite room on the first floor.
The house is equipped with everything one may need to live here short term (min 6 months) or long term ( a few years). All bills are paid and there is a car park space in the street.
Whilst we are practically in the centre of Barking, the house is really peaceful and feels secluded. The garden is like a little haven. A short 5 minute walk to Barking station with access to the District, Hammersmith and City, C2C and London Overground Line - the Suffragettes. The C2C will take you to Fenchurch Street in under 15 minutes for Bank, Brick Lane and Shoreditch. A few steps from the house you will find all the shops, the open market, our favourite (and cheapest) Lidl and ASDA.
Important: We have two (yes, two:)) Bengal cats which are super domesticated and roam everywhere in the house, but you can keep your rooms closed so they would not sneak into your bed! However, if you have cat allergy, this house, sadly, may not be for you.
We (the landlords) are both educators. Matthew is a lecturer in film in London, and Marta works with SEND children and families in the local community. Marta speaks fluent Polish, Matthew thinks he can speak fluent Polish, but he only really knows about 17 words :)
The house is suitable for professionals or students (we have a pretty descent library if you’re into the Arts and Humanities), who want a quiet life but also a sense of family and connection.
While sharing the kitchen and the dining room, we can also dine together and cook together and celebrate birthdays with all our tenants. We are both sociable people, but we also appreciate privacy (classic ADHD thing which we both enjoy!), so everyone does their own thing in their own space and no questions asked.
We are doing viewing and interviews in November for the two rooms, which will be available from 30th December 2025.
