Shared living room, kitchen and wet room (there is a separate toilet). The home has good WiFi and is spotlessly clean and tidy. The well-supported block benefits from a large hall with a friendly communal living area (also with its own WiFi where it is possible to work quietly too) a communal kitchen and laundry facilities. The flat opens onto the grassy areas of the communal gardens.

HOMESHARE OPPORTUNITY

We are delighted to offer a new Homeshare opportunity for a sharer to live affordably in a convenient part of north London in return for providing some practical support and companionship to an older lady in her mid-80s.

Looking for a female sharer (a Gujarati or Hindi speaker would be great but not essential).

What the Opportunity Involves:

In return for the low-cost accommodation (£199 pm), we are looking to match our older homeowner with a well-suited female sharer (aged 23 +) who can provide around 10 hours of practical support around the home and some companionship each week.

Our homeowner, who is in her mid-80s, was widowed a few years ago and lives alone but is close to her daughter who lives nearby and pops in regularly. She is flexible, warm and caring and loves company and making a fuss of people. Sadly, she has limited mobility because of arthritis but is well supported by carers who come in four times a day to help with practicalities, but the family would be reassured by someone being there overnight. She uses a walking frame at home and a wheelchair when she is out with her daughter. No personal care is required or permitted.

Our Homeowner is used to sharing her home having enjoyed lovely Homeshares with her previous sharers who have provided regular companionship over the last four years but have now moved on, and she enjoys having someone around in the evenings.

She spends her days watching television and enjoys history, geography and nature programmes as well as following the news. She enjoys colouring and would like to improve her IT skills to access YouTube and get the best out of her iPhone and iPad!

The ideal Sharer for this Homeshare opportunity will be a friendly, kind, caring and reliable female, someone who is happy to provide some companionship and who would enjoy chatting with the Homeowner about their day when they come in, sharing some time discussing the news, playing a game or doing a puzzle together.

Although our Homeowner has lived in London for many decades, she is originally from India and would particularly enjoy living with a Gujarati or Hindi speaker. A knowledge of South East Asian culture would be a plus and our Homeowner would be happy to taste some homecooked Indian food.

Practical help will include heating up some pre-cooked evening Indian meals a couple of times each week, picking up some local shopping, helping with IT issues but this is mainly about companionship, sharing some time together and providing overnight reassurance.

Please note: It is our Homeowner’s preference that the Sharer should be a vegetarian and non-smoker and vaccinated against Covid.
