Washing machine and dryer. A cleaner comes regularly and a gardener in the summer.

Car parking outside and a bike could be left down the side. WiFi is available.

Just a 10-minute walk to High Barnet tube (Northern Line direct to the West End and City) and 15-minute walk to New Barnet overground (25 minutes to Highbury and Islington, 30 minutes to Moorgate) with handy, local shops and supermarkets within walking distance or a short bus ride.

We are delighted to offer a new Homeshare opportunity for a female sharer to live comfortably and affordably in a convenient part of north London in return for providing some practical support and companionship to a friendly and approachable lady in her mid-80s.

What the Homeshare Opportunity involves:

In return for the low-cost accommodation (£249 pm), we are looking to match our gentle homeowner with a well-suited female sharer (aged 30 +) who can provide around 10 hours of practical support and companionship each week.

Our homeowner, who is in her mid-80s, lives alone but is very close to her two daughters, one of whom lives in the flat upstairs with a lodger, and our Homeowner has dinner with both of them most evenings and then watches tv (comedies, classical movies, Netflix and Eastenders and the news) with her daughter and quite often the lodger too.

She is very warm and smiley, loves company and conversation, listening to music and flower arranging, antiques and art and enjoys looking after her daughter’s very friendly, small dog while she is out at work.

She’s had a very interesting, independent life running her own business and has lived all over including France, Germany, Spain and Canada and speaks fluent English, German and Spanish.

Our Homeowner uses a walker at home following a fall last summer, and although she is now a little forgetful, is well supported by carers who come in daily to help with practicalities, but the family would be reassured by someone being there overnight, who can help with a few simple practical tasks in the morning, prepare an evening meal a few times a week and offer some friendly companionship and a cup of tea if around. No personal care is required or permitted by the sharer.

The ideal Sharer for this Homeshare opportunity will be a kind, caring, reliable female, a mature student or someone working mostly outside the home, who would enjoy chatting with the Homeowner about their day and shared interests, and sharing some evening meals together and some tv time.

Practical help will include popping the bins out, keeping the kitchen tidy, a bit of help with the IPAD or WhatsApp to speak to family abroad, letting the dog out into the garden, but this is mainly about some evening companionship, sharing a few evening meals together and some nice companionship.

Please note: It is our Homeowner’s preference that the Sharer should be female, vaccinated against Covid, and a non-smoker.

This is a monthly facilitation fee for our matching and ongoing monitoring service. You do NOT pay any rent to the Homeowner. Bills are included, although you may be asked to make a modest contribution to the Homeowner towards the energy bills, and council tax if you are working.

No personal care is permitted.
