Description
Lovely lodger wanted for an equally lovely furnished double room with separate work space in an end-of-terrace cottage at the northern end of Teddington.
Please note that I only reply to those who have posted a full profile here and write a little about themselves in their messages prior to arranging a viewing, and ideally also include (a) photo(s), to avoid false profiles. Many thanks for your understanding.
My current lodger is moving out mid-November.
There may be some flexibility regarding your moving-in date.
I'd prefer to have someone who is interested in renting the room longterm (1 year plus) but this is not essential.
The room would be particularly suitable for a classical musician as it is possible to practise here (acoustic instruments or voice only please), but of course that's not essential as long as you don't mind a lot of classical music in the house.
Located on the first floor, the room is quite spacious and has a completely separate (sliding door) office area - basically another small room! - with desk and chair. There is some storage space for clothes as well as a small sofa. Please note there is a single bed in the room.
There is a shared toilet on the first floor as well.
On the ground floor, there is the open plan fully equipped kitchen-diner-living area with large sliding doors giving access to the patio garden. It has a dining table, chairs and sofa and, importantly, a dishwasher as well as a large fridge freezer.
Located also on the ground floor is a shared bathroom with washing machine and separate dryer.
In the warmer months, you will also be able to sit in the small patio garden with bench, table and pizza oven.
(Please note that I have to keep the separate (smaller) living room private.)
The area is really nice and safe and well served by public transport:
Strawberry Hill, Fulwell, Teddington stations are within easy walking distance.
Buses 33 (to Twickenham/Richmond/Barnes)
281 (Tolworth - Hounslow via Twickenham Station) five minutes’ walk away.
From Teddington Broad Street, you can also take the 285 bus (Kingston - Heathrow) and the SL7 bus to Heathrow.
Other local bus routes: R70 to Richmond, R68.
Shops & Restaurants:
Teddington Broad Street and High Street are just about 10 - 15 minutes' walk away. Here, you find supermarkets such as M&S, Tesco, Sainsbury's and also Boots & Superdrug as well as nice cafes. Apart from the usual but useful high street shops, there is a selection of wonderful upmarket independent shops.
Bushy Park and Teddington Lock are within easy walking distance.
Important: Please note that I teach the violin weekday afternoons and all day Saturdays, and I practise daily (but not all day!).
Therefore, the room is unsuitable for you if peace and quiet are essential for you or if you are working from home a lot. Having said that, in the kitchen-diner, the violin playing is barely audible.
I'm German but have lived in England for 26 years so I speak English fluently. It is generally just me living here, but note that my grown up sons and my partner and a friend occasionally stay in the house for shorter periods of time.
Please note that the room is suitable for a single person only.
Unfortunately, it is not suitable for couples or families with children.
Price includes gas, electricity, water, council tax and internet. There is Wifi in all areas of the house.
