Description
Large double room available in a beautiful old three-floor terrace on the border of Whalley Range. Situated next to the humble Manley park in the buzzing asian community of Clarendon Road, it’s less than a 10 minute walk into Chorlton town centre. We’re looking for a chill housemate (preferably creative!) that is respectful of space, boundaries, and household responsibilities to join us in this big ol’ place.
About the room:
This is the second largest bedroom in the house, with plenty of light and definitely the quietest. It was freshly painted at the start of last tenancy, with two nooks that make for great reading or storage spots. Included in the room is a small wardrobe, large set of drawers, and a double bed (minus mattress). Easily spacious enough to be both a bedroom and an office or studio.
More about the house:
The house is part furnished so has essential furniture in each bedroom as well as a chunk of the living room staples. *NOTE*: sadly, some of the furniture in the living room photos you see (e. g. dining chairs, couch/armchairs, TV, etc) will be gone before your tenancy begins. Applicants owning any of this is a bonus!
This place was once upon a time flats and therefore spacious in all communal areas. For creatives and project-doers, the basement is complete with a small work bench and lighting, and enough space for a band jam. The cute, sheltered backyard is a great spot for a morning coffee or outdoor projects, and has a bike shed with space for 3 bikes and other bits. If you work from home, there’s ample space in the dining and living room to escape a bedroom office. In the living room, there’s a giant retractible projector screen (which makes for great movie nights!!) which was installed by the landlord when it was his family home. He is very relaxed when it comes to decorating (hanging pictures, shelves, painting etc) and improvements / small additions to the home can be made (within reason) so long as they are dealt with properly when tenants move on. We have direct contact with him meaning issues are solved quickly - for a landlord he’s a nice chap.
About us:
We are two Rowans (confusing, sorry!!) but Rowan (she/they - 24) goes by Ro. We’re socially conscious, creative, driven people who love to be active and social. Rowan (he/they - 26) is a designer, artist and bass player who enjoys swimming and collecting junk. Ro is an outdoorsy barista who enjoys ceramics, climbing, and weightlifting - all while training to be a welder. We’re generally tidy and organised people, who believe in the cleaning-rota cause. As a house we’ll host occasional parties (including a housewarming!!) and would love a social housemate - however, we are not a party/rave house - we love our late 20’s sleeping schedules too much :) **It goes without question that we are an LGBTQIA+ friendly household - and intolerant applicants will not be considered.**
Pets:
The current tenants who are moving on were allowed to have one (well behaved) cat by the landlord. Cat owners in this criteria are welcome applicants! No dogs, reptiles, or rodents sadly.
Contract:
The contract would be begin as 6 months starting February 1st, with a view to continue renting afterwards. NOTE: The landlord has said there will be a rent raise after this 6 month contract is up (as we didn’t opt for a 12 month contract) - but this will be purely in line with inflation and shouldn’t be a dramatic change.
Please message with any questions!! :^)
