Description

The room/house:
Furnished double bedroom available immediately in a cosy Victorian end-of-terrace in Levenshulme (south Manchester).

There's a double bed, bedside table, some under-bed storage, a cupboard with shelf, and a small wardrobe. Happy for someone to put up pictures, mirrors, etc., and to discuss redecorating it for a longer-term (year+) stay.

The house has a lounge, dining room, and large kitchen/utility space. There's a yard for sitting outside when there's warmer weather, with a lovely tree. It's worth noting for accessibility that there's a small shared bathroom, with a shower that requires stepping into the bath. The stairs are pretty steep between the ground and first floor.

There's on-street parking outside. There are no permits/reserved spaces, so it's first come, first served.

My partner's here every couple of weeks, and his teenage daughter stays from time to time, so there are sometimes other people coming and going.

Bills/full or part-time stay arrangements:
Price includes bills of £165 per month (£70 gas and electric, £15 internet, £60 council tax, and £20 for water). Council tax is Band A if you stay enough nights to need to contribute to it.

It's available full time, but as it's a smallish room it might suit someone who regularly needs to be in Manchester a few nights a week. I'm more than happy to discuss a part-time stay each week with a revised price if that's what suits.

About you:
Pescatarian/veggie/vegan preferred (I don't have meat in the house). LGBT housemates also preferred, as I and many of my friends are queer. I'd like to live with someone at a similar life-stage to me, hence preferring non-students. The age range specified is a guide, so if you fall a bit outside of it, or happen to be doing a PhD or whatever, do still get in touch and just let me know how you think the house vibe will work for you.

Ideally you'll be be pro-Palestine, into community/political/local organising, environmentally conscious, sex-worker positive, and support trans people's rights.

It's a fairly quiet house (I work from home and am currently trying to write a book to a looming deadline...) so the vibe is sociable but chilled.

Someone who keeps things pretty tidy and clean is much preferred!

Pets:
If you have a furry pal who's housetrained and respectful of furniture I'd be delighted to accommodate them, too (if they're a greyhound then we're pretty much destined to house share). I'm open to discussing scaly and feathery pals, too -- but no spiders.

About me:
I'm interested in film, history, the environment, and various other nerdy things. I'm into dance, long walks, reading, and competition-based reality TV shows involving almost any kind of craft. I've been involved in various activist/organising spaces. All three of the housemates I lived with in my last home have become close friends.

Transport and local area:
Buses run every few minutes from the end of the road to the city centre (the journey takes 15-25mins), with some going direct to the university campuses. The train station is a 5-10min walk away, and there's a local library, pool and gym just across the road. It's a great area for cafes, LGBT-friendly bars, local shops, etc., and there's a nature reserve nearby.

If you're interested:
Feel free to give me a shout with any questions, etc. If you'd like to view the room/house, message me (preferably giving me some info about yourself, and why you think it'd be a good fit for you) and we can work out a suitable time. Given that living with someone new can be challenging and a bit weird, I'm happy to discuss a trial week to see if things work for us both.
