Description
We have a double room available with in the oldest building in Manchester. The building is a large, charming if little dishevelled Tudor mansion.
There are 11 people living in the main house and another 5 in the adjoining and more modern annex. We are all part of the same problem community and we mingle freely. We have a dog (jackawawa ), and a cat that roam around but are very friendly.
There are plenty of bathrooms, kitchen and lounge space so you never feel like you are living on top of one another. The house has all the mod cons you would expect, TV, broadband, laundry facilities and an enormous wooded garden. There is also a summerhouse, a gym in the garage, a trampoline and a treehouse of sorts. It's essentially an adult playground!
We're looking for someone with a good sense of community who hates drama, and who wants to get involved and be a friend rather than just a housemate. People who intend on hiding in their room need not apply. The landlord keeps his distance so we have a free hand in how to decorate, design and build things and to develop the enormous garden. Ideally we’d like someone who is excited by that opportunity .
Despite it’s size the house is quiet and relaxed during the week. In pre-covid times we hosted jam nights, gigs, film nights and everything from small parties to mini festivals. Everyone gets a say in when or and how these happen. Obviously we can’t socialise like we used to right now, but there are worse places to in lockdown!
The room is in the more modern (warmer and quieter), annex, a bungalow that adjoins the main house. It has a double bed, desk, bedside table, and a wardrobe.
We are in south Manchester on the Longsight/Levenshulme border, giving easy access to Town, Stockport, Falowfield & Chorlton.
Rent is £320 a month plus one month's deposit. Bills are £55 a month for everything (council tax included).
If interested please drop us a line or two about yourself and we'll get back to you to arrange a viewing. Please try and tell us more about yourself than 'I'm interested, when can I move in?' :)
A bit of the house history can be found if you looks up Slade Hall on Wikapedia.
