Hello!
I'm Amanda, and the two cats (needy, mischievous and absolute menaces to society) are my Bengal Spaghetti and orange cat miso!
I'm looking for a new lodger from January. My insurer only covers me if a lodger is employed or a student, so I'm sorry to say I can't consider people who run a business or are self-employed.
This is a queer-friendly, kink-friendly and sex-positive household. While you don't need to be queer or kinky yourself, I'm part of the local kink scene and sometimes dress up to go to events, so I'm looking for someone non-judgemental and respectful of alternative lifestyles and sexualities. I'd also prefer to live with someone around my age (20s–30s).
The room is furnished with a double bed with under-bed storage space, a firm pocket spring mattress from John Lewis, a shelving/drawers unit, a large wardrobe, and a desk and swivel chair.
The house is in Rusholme/Moss Side (M14) only a 5-minute walk from the gorgeous Alexandra park, and there are many amenities within a 10/15 minute walk, including Asda, Aldi and a gym/leisure centre. It's only 10 minutes by bus into Manchester city centre, and there's a night bus into/from town and direct bus to the airport. Great location for commuting to the unis and hospitals.
The kitchen is fully equipped – note that the cooker is an induction cooker. I can share some pots and pans if you don't have any for use on induction hobs, and am happy to share my utensils etc. There is one spacious shared bathroom, and an open-plan living space. I don’t own a TV or TV license at the moment, but I have ultrafast fibre broadband for streaming. There is no indoor bike storage available but you're welcome to keep one in the yard like I do (the back gate locks and the alleyway is gated).
I work a 9-5 from home, working from the open plan living space, so the best fit would be someone who works 9–5 outside of the house. There is a desk and chair in the room for hybrid working patterns though.
About me: I like bachata dancing, hiking and climbing, DIY and vegetarian cooking and I speak French and Spanish. I've recently started learning guitar too! I like home to be a relaxing space so I would like to live with someone who is tidy and appreciates a calm home environment.
Bills included apart from TV license (which you'll need if you want to watch live TV in your room). Council tax band A.
Some sort of reference would be a bonus and I'd be happy to put you in contact with my previous lodgers if you'd like a reference about me and what I'm like to live with.
