Hartley Hall of Residence

Thank you for considering Hartley Hall of Residence as a possible accommodation for you whilst pursuing your education in our vibrant City of Manchester. We are rightly proud of our hall and all it stands for. The information below will hopefully give you a flavour of what is on offer. It aims to give you an insight into life at our hall. We all feel this residence is like being part of one big happy family.

Hartley Hall of Residence was refurbished to a great standard back in 2010. It is a grade II listed building located in a leafy suburb of Whalley Range, Manchester, and has three floors. We focus on providing a safe, quiet, and comfortable place for students to study.

The ground floor is a Male-floor only. The first and second floors are Female-only floors. We also have two double en-suite bedrooms and 4 twin en-suite bedrooms. Only single en-suite bedrooms are currently available.

All rooms (single, twin, and double) are en-suite bedrooms. All rooms have single beds. Twin and Double en-suite bedrooms can be for one or two students. Rooms are wider. One or two tenants can reside in these rooms. However, if two tenants would like to share it then they must apply together and sign the contract at the same time. We work round the whole year but we do not work during weekends.

The residence has the following features:

1. Beautiful Grade II Listed Victorian building.
2. Located in leafy Whalley Range area.
3. Surrounded by landscaped gardens.

All rooms have:

a) A modern en-suite bathroom.
b) Have large south-facing windows.
c) Room charges for any bedroom, depends on the length of the contract period.
d) To secure the booking, a deposit is required, which is protected with DPS.

Room rent includes unlimited use of the wireless internet, laundry facility, kitchen, and all other shared facilities. Tenants will need to arrange their own bedding, hair dryer, towels, cutlery and crockery, etc.

Our residence enjoys the following:

1. Approx. 15-minute direct bus route (No. 85) to the University, 20 minutes to the City Centre.
2. Close to local shops/restaurants in Whalley Range and the adjacent Chorlton area.
3. Free car/bicycle parking spaces.

I’m sure you find our beautiful hall a perfect place to stay. We operate round the year therefore, you should decide about the length of your contract including the start and end dates that should fall during weekdays only.

Room Access will be given after 11:30 am on the starting date/day of your contract, (please avoid time between 13:00-14:30 on Fridays). We do not work during weekends. Cash payments are NOT accepted.

There is a ratio of 4 people per cooker and fridge. The open layout of the kitchens means you can easily use an adjacent cooker if the one you wish to use is busy. All cookers are electric only. You will be allocated one cupboard and a locker in the kitchen.

Guarantor’s agreement: We do not insist on a UK guarantor. Therefore, one of your parents/ family members / a friend must sign the guarantor form. All necessary documents requested in the guarantor’s form must be attached as evidence. Kindly complete & return the attached Application Form as soon as possible, with copies of the documentation requested therein.

Kindly provide several dates and times for the room viewing so that we can confirm. On any working day, between midday and 16:30, you can view. A 20-minute maximum should be allowed for viewing, including Q&A.
