Description
Large double room available in a quiet, relaxed, and clean house. Fully furnished, with plenty of storage space and all bills included.
The house itself is 125 years old and full of original charm - tall ceilings, exposed floorboards, and a working open fireplace. I’ve completed all the renovation work myself over the past 10 years. Originally an engineer by trade, I keep the property and its contents well maintained. The house has a fully equipped kitchen with extra cupboard and fridge space, a dining room, and a separate sitting room - plenty of communal space for two people. The large bathroom includes a full-size bath, decent shower, and a washing machine.
The rear garden is spacious and relaxing, catching the sun all day. There’s a tidy patio area, lawn, outdoor furniture, and bicycle racks. It’s a nice place to wind down.
* Fast fibre-optic broadband
* Free on-street parking
* 10-minute walk to train station
* 15-minute bus to city centre
* 25-minute walk to the city
* Quick motorway links
The location is ideal, with excellent transport connections. I’m a lecturer at a college in the city centre, and it takes me under 10 minutes to get to work by bicycle. There are also a couple of handy slipways nearby if you’re into water-based activities - perfect for launching a kayak or SUP.
The local area is rich in history, with the Supermarine Spitfire having been produced just down the road in Woolston in the late 1930s. The English Heritage site of Netley Abbey (built in the 13th century) and the beautiful Royal Victoria Country Park are both within easy cycling distance along the shoreline, with plenty to explore along the way.
There are lots of local pubs, along with the recently developed Centenary Quay and local high street, which has various bars, restaurants, and cafés - all just a short walk away. There are also several convenience stores nearby, plus a Lidl just down the road. Everyone loves a Lidl.
I’ve used SpareRoom for around nine years to rent the space and have met lots of lovely people in the process. My current lodger of over three years has recently relocated, so the room will be available from around mid-December. It will have a deep clean and a fresh coat of paint before then.
I’m looking for a clean, tidy, and respectful person to share the space with.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, would like more information/ photos of the room, or would like to arrange a viewing.
Thanks for looking!
