Description

I am a PhD student in psychology at University of Southampton, looking for someone to replace my lovely flatmate.

The room available is an en-suite, very large bedroom (larger than mine). We have a combined kitchen and living room, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a big balcony. Everything is furnished. The flat is really soundproof, so when the living room door is closed you can't hear anything from the bedrooms. Similarly, when the windows are closed you can't hear much from outside. It's very nice and quiet despite being 5 mins from the City Centre.

There is a parking space available to you in the residents' car park for £105 extra pm. Bills are an extra £40-60 pm each. Our building is quite new and modern. We have a 24-hour gym, and a reception team that is there 6 days a week and so incredibly lovely. They often host events for tenants with free food and drinks. We've also got a rooftop terrace that is beautiful in the summer.

The most important detail is that I have a cat (if you look closely at the living room pictures you can see her there!). Her name is Flavia and she's almost 5. She's one of the sweetest cats you will ever meet. She's very affectionate but not extremely needy. She chirps at people when she's comfortable with them and basically likes everybody. She's very good with staying off counters or out of places you don't want her in.

Something quite important is that she has a lot of upper respiratory issues; because of this, we are not allowed to have diffusers/scented candles in the shared parts of the flat. Hopefully this is something you are all right with!

Other than that, everything in the flat is very relaxed. Bills are split equally but I am always open to conversations if our usages are different. I don't pay council tax, but if you need to you can get a discount on yours since you'd be living with a student.

About me: I am a really open person and quite extraverted, but still really love my alone time, especially when I've had a long day. Something that is really important to me is being able to have honest, but direct, discussions about things that might come up (bills, flat maintenance, use of space, etc.). I would love to have a flatmate who is similar to me, in that we feel comfortable going to each other with issues in a kind and direct way.

I would also love to have a relationship with my flatmate where we spend time together (going out, watching films, etc.) but still respect each other's needs, alone time, and space. I think that balance is really important!

If you're interested in the room, please do reach out and we can arrange a virtual or in-person meeting. I'd love to meet you!
