An older lady with poor memory and mobility is seeking a Sharer for her home to offer a mix of 15 hours’ help and company each week in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.

She is well-supported by family and carers, and a cleaner, but would benefit from the friendly reassurance and company of having someone around her home in the evenings and overnight in case of emergency. The practical help that would be useful would include cooking some simple meals (for, or with, the lady), light tidying, prompts and reminders, and ad hoc additional practical help and errands and outings as may be needed. (No pork or shellfish).

The accommodation on offer is a good-sized bedroom furnished with a single bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, desk and chair. The bathroom is shared (nb there are two bathrooms in the property), as are the kitchen, sitting room and garden.

The property is located 5 mins walk from a bus route (14 mins to Bushey Station). There is parking available.

The lady enjoys watching TV – eg Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing on Ice, Vera, and dramas and quiz programmes. She also enjoys listening to music (although she doesn’t like loud music) and to the radio. She used to enjoy baking, cooking and flower arranging, and playing simple games, and may enjoy doing these if someone could help her.

As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be a positive, friendly, kind, helpful and patient non-smoker who ideally shares some of the lady’s interests and would be happy to help. Clear spoken English is also important as she is hard-of-hearing.
