Description
Are you 18-24 and at risk of homelessness, possibly due to family breakdown? Are you sofa surfing and staying with friends or family? Or are you temporarily in a hostel but have to find somewhere to live? Do you need support learning how to live independently?
Herts Young Homeless is a charity that supports young people with the aim of ending the cycle of youth homelessness. Future Roots is an 5 bed accommodation project in Welwyn Garden City run by Herts Young Homeless. There is a shared kitchen, living room, two bathrooms and a large garden. 5 minute walk from WGC station.
This accommodation is ONLY for young adults at risk of homelessness. Please do not apply if this does not apply to you.
Referral Criteria:-
• Aged between 18 and 24 years old
• At risk of homelessness
• Motivated to engage with the support
• Motivated to find education, employment or volunteering opportunities
• Not currently in paid employment or full time education
The house has a support worker to support the housemates to learn skills needed to live independently, relating to accommodation, health, career, money and community. We do this through following a program of support in house meetings and individual support sessions. Housemates will be supported to move into private rented accommodation at the end of their stay and can continue with outreach support if desired.
Contact if you fit the referral criteria, and a hyh staff will set up a 5 minute call to discuss the house further and possibly arrange a meeting and viewing of the property.
