Homeshare in Dover

PLEASE NOTE: THE HOUSEHOLDER WOULD PREFER A FEMALE SHARER

This Homeshare placement is with a friendly couple in their 70s based in Dover, Kent. They are looking for a kind and reliable person to share their home and provide companionship, reassurance, and a friendly presence within the home.

One of the householders has mobility difficulties and some memory concerns and would benefit from having someone around to provide reassurance and companionship, particularly when the other householder is at work. The arrangement is centred around companionship and peace of mind rather than personal care.

In return for low cost accommodation, the householders would appreciate approximately 10 hours of support per week. This may include:

• Providing companionship and social interaction
• Being present in the home overnight (support is not required overnight, just a presence in the property)
• Offering reassurance and assistance should any issues arise
• Preparing or sharing the occasional meal
• Helping with small errands or shopping if required
• Light practical support around the home
• support when the other householder is away

The arrangement is flexible and focused on creating a mutually beneficial living arrangement.

The home is a spacious five storey property located on one of Dover’s most desirable residential streets. It is within walking distance of Dover Priory train station, the seafront, local shops, cafés, and amenities, making it ideal for commuters and remote workers alike.

The successful sharer will have:

• A large furnished double bedroom
• Access to an additional room if required
• Private bathroom and shower facilities
• Shared use of the kitchen and living areas
• Access to a home office space suitable for remote working
• Wi-Fi included
• Storage space for bicycles
• On street permit parking (permit can be arranged)

The household also includes a friendly cat.

The ideal sharer will be:

• Female (as requested by the householders)
• Aged 21+
• Friendly, kind, patient, and understanding
• Comfortable spending time with an older person and engaging in conversation
• Reliable and able to provide a presence in the home
• Respectful of a family environment
• Someone who works from home, studies from home, or spends a reasonable amount of time at home would be particularly well suited to this placement

The householders are looking for someone who is warm, compassionate, and happy to become part of a friendly household whilst maintaining their own independence.

Requirements:

• A recent DBS check (or willingness to apply)
• Two references covering at least 12 months
• Completion of an application form and interview process

Fees:

• £240 per month Homeshare fee
• £240 deposit
• £50 DBS fee (if applicable if you are successful)
• £50 per month contribution towards household bills

The minimum term is 6 months, although a longer term arrangement is preferred.
