Description

The Room : Spacious (17m2) Double en-suite with a shower, toilet and basin, furnished in a mid-century theme with a double bed with a luxury EVE mattress, desk/dressing table, bedside table, chest of drawers, shelves and coffee table. The room is on the 3rd floor (roof conversion), with two Velux windows overlooking a quiet road and further field the hilly greenery that is the South Downs. Expect to hear seagulls as they like being on the roof.

The flat: Large Victorian period conversion split-level flat with period features such as fireplace and original wooden floor boards, brand new open kitchen with all modern appliances, bright south facing large living room with big TV and a view of a shared large private communal garden. Possibility of using another room in the flat as a part-time office (to be discussed/negotiated). The flat is ideally located 10 min walk to the Folkestone Central train station, 3 from Tesco Express and great pubs and restaurants, 5 to The Leas (a hilltop Edwardian promenade overlooking the sea), 10 to the town center and 15 to both the actual sea and harbour/old town.

You would be sharing with me & my partner (a camera assistant), though he is away a lot for work and work long hours so it’s mostly me and our friendly and curious female 3 year old rescue cat Smudge. I’m a professional working in the music industry, live events and higher education, partly working from home. I enjoy live music (rock, indie, alt-pop, post-punk), fine and performing arts, home cooking, eating out, sci-fi movies, Sunday roast at the pub, cocktail and wine bars, cycling, walking/hiking and rowing, train travel amongst others things. I care about our local community, social justice and doing my bit towards a better world.

Folkestone: is a great little upcoming town with direct access to london via high speed train (45 Min to Stratford, 57 to Kings Cross), a great community vibe, loads of independent cafes shops and restaurants, a lot of art, a large pebble beach and even a sandy beach, minutes away from the South Downs and a lot of cliff walks and hikes, and easy access to the continent via the Eurotunnel (just outside the town) or ferries in Dover 20 min drive away.

What I’m looking for: A single person between 27-50yrs old, ideally working at home no more than 2/3 days a week, non-smoker, sociable but independent, clean and tidy, and ideally a music fan as I do listen to music/the radio in the flat. Asking rent is £625/month including ALL bills.
