Description
I live in a converted Victorian house and have a light & comfortable double bedroom available to let, which overlooks the conservatory and garden.
Easygoing, caring & considerate working people/students are welcome, and somebody who is planning to stay for at least three months.
Having moved around (including living the US) and travelled a lot in my 41 years alive, I’ve found a real sense of home here in Folkestone since moving here 5 years ago. This town is wonderful, so full of community spirit and creativity, and nature's on your doorstep. I work from home and often out for evenings and weekends, so it is likely best that the roommate has a complimentary rhythm so we can each have our space 😊 but of course most important is that we feel we connect.
I am happiest when outdoors, creating music, trying a new ale with a friend, and spending time with family. I suck at small talk and thrive on the "what's life all about?", deep-dive conversations; have my opinions challenged. And to be upfront, I love being and working with people but having time to myself is really important to me, so I'm a little nervous to go back to sharing my sacred solo-space. A recent change in career means I need to supplement my income, and it would be wonderful to share with someone who had a similar outlook on life. I am a PhD Researcher in sustainable food systems (following a career as a dementia care consultant), a musician (don't worry I can use headphones!) and quite active with local community projects.
Most of the time the flat is quiet, but I do occasionally have friends to stay, and occasionally have parties. But of course I'd always be considerate with your plans.
The lounge, kitchen & bathroom are shared.
Bathroom is large and it has a nice electric shower & bath as a back up.
The flat has a washing machine and tumble dryer, but no TV. I have a projector for the occasional movie night!
Super fast broadband and all bills included.
There is a lovely big back garden with table and chairs that is suitable for relaxation or eating outside in summer time.
The flat is very central (10 minutes walk to town centre) for shops (small coop is around corner), transport (3 minutes walk to train station, 2 mins to bus stop), and the sea (10 mins walk to the upper leas).
There is a driveway (and extra parking on the opposite the house but you will need residents' permit (£35 a year) to park there during the day over 2 hours free).
Sorry, I am not able to accommodate people who smoke or are on benefits. I'd prefer no pets but will be open to hearing about your furry friend.
If you don't have a profile, please email with a few sentences about yourself.
Please don't rely on the photos - I can't capture what it really looks like (the lounge and garden are really big, the double room is cosy but full of natural light) - come and see the place!
Thank you
Alise
