I’m offering extremely low rent inclusive of all bills for a double room with full use of our 8 bedroom/5500 sq ft houseboat in exchange for a little help around the house and also help with my daughter. I’m not looking for crazy amounts of your time, this is very far from a nanny/au pair position, it may just be babysitting a couple nights a month when needs be and if I’m working in the evening and by chance she gets up, then just asking her to go back to bed for example.

So a little about us to see if we match your vibe:
We are a happy and busy family that’s always on the go. My husband and I are fairly eccentric, heavily tattooed business owners with quirky ideas to decorate our boat to be a gothic yet maximalists dream. We moved onto this houseboat a few months ago and are finally getting round to decorating now. We have 3 children between us, though only the youngest lives permanently on board, the other two (13 and 10 years old) visit once a month. The youngest is a sassy 5 and a half year old, who although is a drama queen she is well mannered, polite and wise beyond her years, the girly girl of the family. We also have a Sphynx kitten and 18 month old pocket bully to add to our amazing household collection.

What we are hoping for:
To find someone who is fun and fits into the life we have. We are all about good energy, someone that will have a laugh with us and not be a total recluse and become another family member so to say, however short or long you stay. We would ideally seek sombebody working or a student to come and rent our room. Due to the fact you’d be around my young daughter a female is of preference. Age is not an issue. We’d advise you be a driver due to being on the marina, we also will be getting a spare car so if you do not have one that you can rent cheaply off us to cover the insurance to put you on it, just maintain it and you’d be responsible obviously for fuel etc. there is good bus links also if you aren’t a driver but it will be around a 10 minute walk to get to said bus stop. We want someone well mannered, won’t fall behind on rent, clean and tidy and respectful of our home.

What you get:
Full use of the boat, we have a piano and hot tub also, as well as 3 outside deck areas. Washing facilities you can use for your clothes etc. 2 bathrooms on your floor (4 bathrooms in total on the boat), they are shared however only you and my daughter are on the bottom deck so it would be one each essentially. Double bedroom furnished with double bed, chest of drawers, bedside cabinet, clothes rail. A blank canvas room, all white walls with dark blue grey carpets that you’re welcome to decorate to your taste including paint and wallpaper if you wish. We have 2 living rooms on board so you’d get lots of your own space also as the top deck is essentially where we will be once our child is in bed (our bedroom and living room and office and bathroom is all on the top floor so not much need for you to go up unless you’re going to the top outside deck) - You also get Cool housemates, 2 pets and the opportunity to live on board the biggest converted houseboat on the marina. You are welcome to have guests over, we go away a lot so you’d have the whole boat to share with the animals regularly/montly. Smokers welcome but you MUST smoke outside and use an ashtray. You cannot bring pets like cats or dogs, but fish or small creatures or reptiles that will stay In your room are fine. You are welcome to eat food and drink we have but replace it if you use it all or finish the last of it. You will have your own cupboards and fridge freezer also in the kitchen.

Important parts:
Rent is Due once a month on the day of the month you choose or we can make it weekly if that’s easier for you. £400pcm all bills included. No security deposit is required but that months rent would need to be paid on the day you move in. Car rental would be dependant on how much it would cost to have you on the insurance if you require it. We will be requiring a full DBS check that we are happy to pay for, the only reason for this is that we want to ensure you’re safe to be around our children and in our home. Minimum rental is 6 months and there is no maximum. We will have a contract for us all to sign with a break clause too if for whatever reason it doesn’t work out and you wish to leave. Contracts are mandatory to sign for the wellbeing of everyone and security to both you and ourselves. The room is ready to rent now so you can move in as soon as you’re wanting too.
