Description
Hello everyone! ☺️ I currently live in a two-bedroom flat in the west end of Glasgow. It is situated next to Kelvinbridge subway station, so a short walk to UofG, or directly on the transport line if you are at Strathclyde or GCU. My flatmate is moving out to live with one of her closest friends, and so I am looking for a new flatmate to move in, with bills and rent being paid from the 2nd of August onwards.
In the flat, you will have your own room which is shown in the pictures. In this bedroom, there is a double bed, a large wardrobe built into the wall, and a desk. The keyboard and drawers shown in the picture will be removed when my flatmate moves out, so you will have to add your own set.
In terms of communal areas, there is a kitchen, which has many cupboards for utensils and food, as well as a shared fridge, hob, oven/grill, kettle, toaster, and washing machine. There is no microwave, and only one drawer in the fridge acting as a freezer, so freezer space is very limited. This means that you cannot really meal prep over a long period of time, but there’s still fridge space to keep food for the week. In general, everything else in the kitchen is in great condition. Attached to the kitchen is a spacious communal area, which is an open plan living room/dining room. This has a dining table and chairs, and sofas with a coffee table which form the living room section of the room. At the end of the hallway in the flat, next to my room, there is one bathroom with a shower in the bath.
If you are also going to be a student from September onwards, we will be exempt from paying council tax, so we do not need to worry about that additional cost. On the other hand, if you are a working professional, you may still apply to live here. However, please bear in mind that you will need to fund the council tax yourself. I have just completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Glasgow, but I am starting my doctorate degree in September. You are more than welcome to live here if you are not a student, as our lifestyles will be fairly similar. However, please note that you will have to fully fund the council tax, as I cannot work enough hours on top of the doctorate to fund this. The flat is council tax band E, which is very expensive to pay alone, even with the 25% discount.
In terms of other costs:
* The rent is currently £500 each, paid on the 2nd of every month. The first payment will be due when your tenancy starts on the 2nd August. This may rise as the rent freeze has passed, but the agency would give three months notice for this.
* The bills are paid through a direct debit system: each of us pay £50 on the 2nd of every month. This means there is money leftover to cover the winter months, or it can be withdrawn and transferred back to us.
* The wifi is paid in the middle of each month, at £14 each.
-> The total monthly cost is therefore (500 + 50 + 14 = ) £564 per month, which is cheaper than most properties in this area.
As we will be living together, I figured I would tell you a bit about myself! I am starting my doctorate in Counselling Psychology in September, meaning that I will be training to become a Counselling Psychologist. I like being outdoors, going for walks, and running in particular. Because of this active lifestyle and the intensive course that I will be starting, I am quite a big fan of an early night! As much as I like to go out clubbing sometimes, I am an early riser, and this will be the case particularly when my doctorate starts. It is going to be an intense course and so having a quiet and clean living space is important to me, as I know how stressful it can be living with messy flatmates. Although, as well as being active and busy, I love going to bakeries and cafes to hide from the Glasgow weather, and to relax by watching a TV series or reading a book. In general, I am a friendly, caring individual who values their friends and is always up for socialising🎉
I am interested in getting to know you too, as I recognise it’s a big step to move in with one other person. Most of my friends are in shared spaces where they do fun activities with their flatmates, and I would be up to do so as well. However, everyone needs their space and down time, which I will also respect.
If this sounds like something you are looking for, feel free to get in touch. I will try to let people view the flat and also spend time with me too before any decisions are made🥰
