Description
Hey!
We're looking for a nice new pal to join our flatshare on one of the prettiest streets in the Southside. Ideally, a short to medium term stay is what we're looking for (probably around the 6 month mark, but we're quite flexible with the specifics of that).
The flat has 3 bedrooms, large living room and kitchen, 1 shared bathroom and a communal back garden. We're on a quiet and picturesque street in Langside/Shawlands, just a few minutes away from Langside train station and around 15 minutes walk from Queen's Park and from Shawlands' shops, supermarkets and bus links. It's a lovely part of town.
The room is large, comfortable and South-facing, with all furniture pictured included. Our last flatmate was reluctant to leave, but she decided it was time to move in with her boyfriend. We were all pals, and enjoyed having a chat over a cup of tea/glass of wine or watching a show or film on the projector. We'd be keen to continue this friendly vibe with our new flatmate.
A bit about us:
I'm a 39yo full-time musician, piano teacher and lefty type.. I'm usually very sociable, but like my home to be a bit of a wee haven rather than a party place. I'm a pretty tidy person and like to make sure my place is a clean and nice space to be in basically. Some of the things I like the most are: Listening to music (especially 60s/70s Soul, Art-Pop, Alternative RnB, Indie, anything with jangly guitars), drinking tea, going record shopping, listening to funny podcasts, going to and playing gigs, cooking, watching films and shows (favourites include Sopranos, Simpsons, Father Ted, Twin Peaks, RuPaul, Broad City, Queer Eye, anything by Wes Anderson or the Coens or featuring Bob Mortimer).
Declan is 31 and works in the whisky industry, mostly wfh. He's into music, photography, fashion, cycling, coffee, sport, cooking and having a general wander about. Like me, he likes his home to be a chill place to be. Both of us also try our best to be people who are anti-racist, anti-sexist and allies to LGBTQIA+ folk. While it should go without saying, living with someone with those same values is important to both of us.
This ad is turning into a bit of an essay, but it's important to me that I'm on the same wavelength as the person I live with so I figured I'd try and give you a vague idea of what we're like. I think I'm only really interested in living with someone who becomes a pal, rather than someone who is just looking for a room to sleep in, you know? I've lived in flatshares for years, and some of my closest friends are people I've met after posting an ad looking for a flatmate.
A couple of extra bits of info:
The bills included in the price are broadband and Council Tax (I'm afraid I don't think council tax exemptions for students wouldn't apply here as we're both professionals). The electricity and gas bills are based on usage. Over the warmer months this has typically been around £30 each pm, but I'd expect it to be a good bit more than that as we start using the heating more. This is our first winter here so I'm not sure about specifics, but my guess would be around £60pm.
So, aye. Feel to get in touch with any questions if you want to know more. If you think this might be somewhere you'd like to live, it'd be great to have a chat, either in person or on Zoom or whatever.
Cheers!
Pete
