Double room to let

Hey there! My current flatmate is sadly moving to another city, which means her cozy room will be up for grabs from April. You’d be sharing the flat with me and my cat, who is both adorable and a shameless food thief.

The Room: there is a double bed and a built-in wardrobe with fitted shelves, so plenty of storage space for your stuff, and two bedside tables. There's extra space for a desk, if you want to get one.

Location and connections:
- G41 postcode
- 10 min walk to Shields Road subway station
- 15–20 min walk to Pollokshields East station and the bus stop
- The area is super quiet, green, and great for parking (if you have a car - I only have a cat, no car).
- You get the loveliest neighbours

Local Amenities:
- 15 min walk to the nearest Sainsbury’s
- 20 min walk to Morrisons and Lidl
- Loads of little local shops nearby for those emergency snack runs

Expenses: 560£ pm does not include bills. Bills amount to: 80-90£pm for gas during the winter and ~30£ during the summer; 50-60£ pm for electricity; 33£ for internet; the council tax is band D, so around 205£pm (including water charges). These are the total costs for the bills, to be split between the two of us. If you're a student, I'll get a discount of 25% and will not ask you to share the council tax.
I'd prefer to share with a professional so we can split the council tax.

About me: I’m a physicist and a lecturer at the University of Glasgow, so I work a lot - sometimes from home. Ideally, I’d like to live with someone who isn’t a wild party animal and doesn’t have people over all the time.
That being said, I’m friendly, easy-going, and would love to live with someone I can actually chat and be friends with, instead of just coexisting like two ships passing in the night. But don’t worry, I totally respect personal space!
I keep the flat clean and tidy… except for my cat’s toys, which are permanently scattered everywhere (he likes it that way). I can handle a bit of untidiness, but full-on filth is a no-go.
When I don't work (a rare event during the teaching term), I like reading, listening to podcasts or audiobooks, going to concerts, working out, playing board games, or just chilling in the flat with my cat - who, by the way, is very sweet but also very greedy. He will absolutely attempt to steal your food if you let him (but even if you don't, cause he's the ginger cat holding the brain cell). He also has asthma and allergies, so we need to be extra careful about what’s left out.

Who I’m Looking For:
- PhD students or professionals (sorry, no undergrads - living with someone who could be my student feels weird); I'd prefer a professional to share the council tax.
- Preferably a woman, but open to other options.
- Must be categorically not a fascist, racist, sexist, mysoginist, homophobe, or right-wing extremist. (If you tick any of these boxes, please take yourself elsewhere, thanks!)
- No smoking or vaping in the flat - outside is fine.
