Description

Hello!
I am a current University of Glasgow PhD looking for a new flatmate to take the place of my flatmate who is leaving in a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom property in the end of June/beginning of July. As I am currently in my third year of PhD, I would prefer someone who is also a PhD student or other post-graduate student to maintain the council tax exempt status. The flat is two floors, downstairs for common areas and upstairs for bedrooms and bathroom. It gets a good amount of light throughout the year and has a nice little balcony that is great to hang out on when we get sunshine. We are located near the Kelvin River, so if you are at University of Glasgow, you would be able to walk along the Kelvin and through the Botanical Gardens to get to work.

The flat is unfurnished, therefore the new tenant would need to come with their own furnishings for their bedroom. I have some furniture such as a couch and armchair in the shared living room that are welcome to be used communal and would be happy to go in for a couple of extras like a dining table and chairs. The flat comes with all the kitchen goods like fridge and washing machine. Electric, gas and wifi are not included in the rent, but usually amount to about £50/mth, with the winter being a bit more expensive.

A little about me: As I mentioned Im a PhD in archaeology. I study plants, fabrics and basketry in prehistory and am currently in the 3rd year of my program. Im originally from New Orleans in the States and moved to Scotland to pursue my degree about 3 years ago. I am a bit of a homebody most weekends and like to cook, play video games, or work on my artsy/fibre hobbies. I also like to get out in nature and go to see music or art with some of my archaeology pals. Im a pretty friendly introvert and can be pretty sociable, but really appreciates my alone time to recharge. Im looking for a flatmate who'd be happy to be sociable with me, laid back, respectful and conscience about cleaning and dishes, and enjoys some quiet time.
