Description
A room has become available in our beautiful, spacious home and we’d love to welcome someone who genuinely fits the vibe and values here, not just someone looking to fill a space.
Please don’t send one word messages like “interested” or “available?” We’ve had a lot of responses and are looking for someone who wants to share the home not just the space. Tell us a bit about yourself and how you’d fit into the home.
If the ad is on here, it’s available. Move in date is 8th of April.
The room is on the top floor, cosy and quiet, with a skylight above the bed and a gorgeous view of the trees. It’s part furnished with a bed, mattress and two bedside tables, plus a built in cupboard. It’s partly painted a dark rich purple and brown, and you’re very welcome to repaint or finish painting it to suit you.
Also on the top floor is Shannon’s bedroom and a spare room we use as a chill out space and storage. You’re welcome to use this for luggage, camping gear or occasional guests.
On the first floor there’s Kelsey’s bedroom and studio, which she pays more rent for, a bathroom with shower over bath and storage, plus a separate pink toilet room, perfect for those of us who love an undisturbed bath.
The ground floor has a large cosy lounge with a corner sofa and faux fire, leading into a dining room with a table and chairs, Chesterfield chair and a lovely Moroccan wooden sofa. There’s a utility nook with a dryer and recycling space, and a kitchen with a double door fridge freezer, gas cooker, washing machine and a Welsh dresser with plenty of storage.
Outside there’s a small patio where we sometimes have BBQs. We’d love to improve the patio over time, so anyone into that is a plus.
We have a resident black panther called Milo who will absolutely cuddle your face, this is non-negotiable I’m afraid. And Ember, the gorgeous tortie. They are both clean, and hugely affectionate, so cat lovers are essential. We also frequently have dog visitors as Kelsey often dog sits, so being comfortable around dogs is important too.
We’re looking for someone queer friendly, ideally queer, neurodiverse friendly, kind, creative, self aware and respectful.
Cleanliness matters as a household, it keeps the spaces comfortable and accessible for everyone. Shared spaces should be left clean as standard and cleaned routinely and shared between us fairly.
We’re relaxed about creative mess and people living their lives, but we are looking for someone who naturally notices what needs doing, cleans up after themselves effectively, and takes shared responsibility without prompting or reminders. We love our home and it’s great to share with those who are genuinely house proud and that actively keep the environment cosy and inviting ✨
We value calm, direct and respectful communication. I’ve found that shared living works best when everyone feels comfortable raising small things early and talking them through without tension, emotional framing, or long back and forth conversations.
We like a calm, predictable atmosphere over a party house. Music, occasionally sharing dinners, walks, charity shop trips and the odd pub are more our speed than heavy nights or chaos.
We love creatives, musicians and generally quirky people. The house is technically unfurnished but we’ve put a lot of care into decorating together, painting bits, making mood boards and adding character. It’s a collaborative space and we’d love someone who enjoys that too.
It’s a peaceful home where you can hear birds and sometimes spot deer, and there are hills and woodland walks right behind the house! Perfect for someone who prefers the convenience of nearby nature rather than supermarkets.
Kelsey is in the creative industry and has been here the longest. She’s playful and arty and adores a good natter.
Shannon is from Hawaii, works as a teaching assistant and is an all round warm and welcoming person who brings a calm, kind presence to the house.
We both eat a lot of vegan food, Shannon is mostly vegetarian and Kelsey eats some meat. We don’t mind what you do 🍲
There is a local shop five minutes walk away. Bus at the end of the road to Todmorden, Burnley and Hebden Bridge. Train station and Todmorden town centre are about two miles away. Train to Manchester Victoria is usually less than 30 minutes, and an hour to Leeds.
If you’re a minimalist, the maximalist decor might not be for you. There’s a range of ethically sourced skulls and skins around the house, so it’s got a somewhat spooky vibe. It’s not woo woo, it’s just decor.
We’re trans inclusive, intersectional feminists and completely intolerant of bigotry.
Unfortunately we can’t accept couples or children, but we hope you find your perfect place.
If you’d like to message, please include what you’re like as a person, to live with, your general schedule and how long you’re looking to live here for.
We would ideally prefer someone longer term than 6 months 🙌
We look forward to hearing from you, if you have any questions, please ask away 🍃🌿🌱
