Description
An en-suite room is available in the top-floor penthouse flat at Wool House in the intersection between Aldgate East, Whitechapel and Shadwell. My friend and I are looking for a new flatmate to take it! I’m in the process of signing the contract for the flat starting 09/11/2024 and would like to create a new home.
About me
I’m Anja, a 32 year old professional that works in tech at a bank, German-born, and lived in the US and the UK for the last 14 years. My interests are volleyball (I play for a local club in Div 1 LVA), plants/gardening (I own probably around 60 plants - hence why I’m so glad I found the penthouse which has loads of space and light, and yes, there’ll be loads of plants on the terrace too), travelling (count is at 57 countries, and I just came back from 3,5 weeks in China), good food (I LOVE Padella, but I’m also always happy to try new places), dogs (I dog-sit regularly and got confirmation from the landlord to continue to do so) and I have a passion for everything related to Korea: K-Drama, K-Food, and yes, also K-pop.
Who I am looking for?
I’m looking for a flatmate who I can befriend as I enjoy to celebrate successes together or help each other out when needed. This will be a home rather than just a room and I’d like to find someone who is independent but also happy to share a dinner or a visit to the local amienties every now and then. I work full time and have an active social live with several days out per week. On weekends, I do the usual things like going to markets, to the movies, eating in / out, going for drinks, travelling, cycle tours etc. The flat will be a "sanctuary", somewhere peaceful to come back home. Therefore, not looking for a flatmate who still enjoy midweek partying. The ideal flatmate will:
- Pay the rent / bills on time
- Is a professional preferred
- Has an active social life - but doesn't bring the party back home
- Is clean and tidy
- Likes to socialise and have a coffee / drink
- Doesn’t smoke (at least not in the flat)
- Is willing to contribute to initial flat essentials like a vacuum cleaner, toaster, etc.
- No "live in" partner
The flat / penthouse
Situated between Aldgate East, Whitechapel and Shadwell is this modern warehouse conversion offering stunning three double bedroom apartment on the fifth floor. This luxury apartment consist of a fully fitted kitchen, generous open-plan reception room, hard wooden floors, high ceilings, each bedroom with its own balcony access and two bathrooms. The landlord is flexible about furniture. I’m planning to keep my room unfurnished and will request furniture for the other rooms / kitchen / living room. Please let me know if you prefer otherwise.
The room
The mid-sized en-suite bedroom has plenty of space for a bed, wardrobes, and desk (landlord won’t be providing desks).
The area
Zone 1. Shops, bars, supermarkets, galleries, cinemas, restaurants, Columbia Market, Brick Lane Market, Spitalfields Market, a step-stone from The City ... no need to say more!
The transport
- 8 minute walk to Aldgate East Station (District Line, Hammersmith & City Line)
- 12 minute walk to Aldgate (Circle Line, Metropolitan Line)
- 12 minute walk to Shadwell (DLR, Overground)
- 15 minute walk to Whitechapel (Overground, Elizabeth Line, District Line, Hammersmith & City Line)
- 2 minute walk to buses to central London
The price
Rent is £1300. I don’t have the exact number for the bills yet, but looking at other bills for flats available in the same building my estimate is between £150 to £200 per month (water, electricity, gas and council tax, internet etc.). The deposit for the large room is £1500. A reference check from the agency will be performed to sign onto the lease.
Move-in date
I’ll be signing a 12 month contract starting 09/11/2024, and once confirmed you will be added to the contract too. However there is flexibility upon further discussion. I won’t be able to do viewings in person as I won’t have the keys until 09/11/2024, but if the initial conversations are going well I’ll be happy to inquire with the landlord for further viewings.
If the above fits you, please get in touch with me and which room you are interested in. Please tell me a bit about yourself (profession, age, what you are looking for, email, phone number, etc.) and also please let me know when you could move in.
Looking forward to meeting you!
