Description
We have a very large double room available from 2nd April in our lovely three bedroom flat, within an Edwardian mansion block in the centre of Barnes, just around the corner from the amazing Olympic Studios.
The flat is big and spacious (measures about 1,200 sq. ft.) and is in very good condition, with large rooms, high ceilings, big sash windows and is bright and airy throughout.
There’s a proper entrance hall with stained glass windows, a bright lounge with leather sofa & armchair and dining area, a separate modern kitchen with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave & washing machine/drier and the bathroom has a really good shower over the bath.
It has independent gas central heating, constant hot water, high-speed wireless internet and a bicycle garage outside. It’s a lovely, comfortable flat with lots of character.
The rent is inclusive of electric; gas; water; council tax; TV license and fast broadband internet. The only addition is for the cleaner who comes every other Friday (£8 each every 2 weeks).
The bedroom available is a huge double at the front corner of the block with a lovely big bay window and fitted white wooden slat blinds. It's furnished with a king size bed, wardrobe, bedside table with lamps and a shelf unit. There’s plenty of space for more items if you wanted to add anything.
I've been living in the flat for over 7 years and have shared flats for many years, so am respectful of others privacy but I also enjoy the social aspect of sharing.
I’m a freelance interior designer and property consultant and occasionally work from home but I’m very quiet. Uschi has been living at the flat for one year and works in TV production. We're both sociable and enjoy socialising locally. Grant who is leaving has been here for 2 years and is moving to his own flat within the same block.
There aren’t any harsh rules except for a clean-as-you-go policy (especially in the kitchen and bathroom) which is fair and considerate for sharing. We like to keep the flat clean & tidy, so we need the new person to be likewise. As mentioned, we also have a cleaner every two weeks to keep things spick & span.
There's no contract to sign and we're flexible with how long you might want to stay, but preferably for at least 3 months. You’ll need a deposit/bond of £350 and the first month’s rent to move in. We're very easy-going and have no restrictions on where you’re from or whether you’re a student or working, etc… Just as long as you’re considerate and not a crazy party animal... well not at home anyway!
If you don’t know Barnes, it’s a very safe and smart area (great for celebrity spotting) and is basically a riverside village but just over the bridge from busy Hammersmith. It’s incredibly green with loads of open spaces, sports facilities, beautiful riverside walks and cycle routes. The centre of Barnes even has a village pond with ducks to feed and a Saturday food market.
Over the years I've lived all across London but Barnes is by far the best area! We're just around the corner from the fantastic Olympic Studios with 2 x cinemas, cafe, bar and members club and very close to the London Wetlands Nature Reserve.
Great location (postcode SW13 9HT) at the junction of Castelnau and Church Road, very handy for many local shops and lots of really good pubs, restaurants and cafes (which we're very happy to guide you on).
Transport is easy with a bus stop right outside the flat (Red Lion stop - Zone 2 - bus routes 33, 72, 209, 283 and 485) taking you to Hammersmith tube station in under 10 mins (Piccadilly, District, Hammersmith & City lines). Buses run directly to Westfield in Shepherds Bush and also to Roehampton, Richmond & Twickenham in the other direction. Barnes station is a 12 minute walk with trains directly to Clapham Junction, Vauxhall and Waterloo. Surrounding areas are Putney, Fulham, Hammersmith, Chiswick, Mortlake, Kew and Roehampton.
Thanks for looking and feel free to contact me with any questions or to arrange a visit.
Cheers!
Julian
