Description
Photos of the room are for Room1, rest are completed to the same standard
We have had a blast living with friends for the last 5 years but the time came to redo our place and now after a gruelling year we are opening our home again to 3 new housemates!
3 rooms are available in a high spec duplex apartment where we completed a complete regut-redo refurbishment in the last year. All rooms are located on the top floor of the apartment and each contains:
- floor to ceiling wardrobe (width in Room 1 is 2m, Room 2 1.75m and Room 3 1.5m);
- bed (double in Room 1 and 2, single in Room 3) with a mattress (Simba hybrid in Room 1 and 3) and a bedside table;
- adjustable standing desk and ergonomic office chair (to arrive by 17th Oct);
- spotlights;
- 4 sockets with usb&usb-c ports and an ethernet outlet for internet connectivity;
- blinds will be fitted beginning of Nov;
- thumb turn and key lock which can be used if preferred but we've always had our door open.
Downstairs there is a shower room with a sink and toilet to be shared by the 3 rooms and a separate toilet to be used by everyone. There is a separate laundrette cupboard with a washing machine and a tumble drier.
The kitchen is equipped with all the appliances one might need from a blender to a dishwasher (and a ninja foodie!). All the appliances are Bosch (including the boiler) with efficiency rating between B-A+. Each rooms is assigned a dedicated cupboard, a rotating cupboard corner shelf and half a fridge space (yes, there are two huge Samsung smart fridges - it won't order your food for you but it will keep it pretty fresh).
The flat has been fully insulated with thermal insulation on external walls and with acoustic insulation between rooms (it's not a recording studio level experience but you will not be inundated with your housemates late night conversations). There are spotlights and underfloor heating throughout the entire apartment that is controllable by zones (each zone has its own thermostat including individual rooms). The floors are tiled throughout which keeps the place cool in the summer and conducts heat through during winter keeping it warmer for longer. There is also a balcony that is lovely during warmer months to chill outside. The bonus is that we have access to the roof and sneak out to watch the fireworks on the New Years day :)
Living room is at the moment off limits due to shelving and under the stairs cupboard (in each of which there will be additional allocated space per room) being built there. The living room will be back in operation from November.
On a weekly basis we like to enjoy our tv evenings together watching series or films. The lighting in the living room is set up with Hue lights and are connected to appleTV for an amplified experience together with Bose speakers. We won't tie you down to sit and watch something with us but it would be nice to spend some time together so we don't live like strangers. We have made close friendships with our previous housemates and although there is no expectation for us to become such, we will always invite you to join us on music gigs, coffee walks to Matlby Street market or a play/exhibition and let's not forget the long list of sporting activities!
As for the location: it's 8 min walk to Bermondsey station (Jubilee line), 10min walk to Tower Bridge/riverside, 20min walk to London Bridge station and about 25min to Thames Clipper/Uber Boat.
Maltby Street market is a throw away filled with cafes and restaurants and the infamous Beer Mile is at the door step (not even 1min walk with the benefit of the windows facing in the opposite direction so we don't hear it, hehe). Within a short walk there are plenty of cafes, restaurants (Bermondsey street is 15min walk away) and grocery shops (3min walk to Sainsbury's, 6min to medium Tesco, 15min to Lidl, 20min to a massive Asda and another massive Tesco is 15min bus away).
The Southwark park is 15min away where there is an athletics track and the Burgess park is a similar distance - both hold park runs on Saturdays if you like running. For those into yoga, there is are 3 MoreYoga studios within 15min walk and a pilates studio 1min out of the apartment.
On the bills - fixed bills: water, wifi and council tax are included. Gas and electricity are excluded. The underfloor heating is gas powered so the bills will be more than reasonable and shared between everyone. Each housemate tops it up once a month and we rotate for the next turn. Any expenses like toilet paper, cleaning stuff, etc. used by everyone are shared (to use Splitwise app for it). Speaking of cleaning, we have a cleaning rota each weekend when each room gets assigned an area. Because there will be 5 of us when the rooms fill up, the cleaning will fall out on 3 weekends out of 5 so you'll get a break from it too.
About us: we are a couple, a Lithuanian (Angie) and a Brazilian (Paulo), we have lived in London for most of our adulthood lives. Paulo co-owns a bike shop in Chiswick and works during the week. Angie is a business consultant turned diy-er having dedicated all of her time to renovation but going back to a corporate job when it is done. We are outgoing, like to go to day gigs every now and again (we grieve the closure of Printworks - if you know, you know) and enjoy the outdoors/sports coupled with chill evenings in with a glass of wine with dinner. We are impartial to some fun so up for enjoying activities together and understandably respect each other's space, everyone needs time to themselves (even us =)
On availability: the rooms are available already. We are still working on renovating the entrance door and some shelving which means there will be some paint smell/noise hence why it says it is available from 1 Nov but if that does not bother you, you are welcome to move in earlier.
If you like how this sounds, please drop me a message and we'll organise a viewing. Looking forward to hearing from you!
