0-5 minutes walk away
Description
We have one large room available for one person in our small, but much loved ground floor converted warehouse unit 2 min walk from Bethnal Green Tube station.
Please read until the end!
About the room – Large (pics don't do it justice) double room with no direct windows to the outside. The room has a window into the living room and still feels very light and spacious. A few basic bits of furniture included, please see pics.
Council tax, water and internet included, we share gas and electricity bills..
About the household – What used to be a mad party house a decade ago is now a very quiet home for 3.5 people. Currently there are 2.5 of us - a biologist with a passion for gaming and a couple (an artist and a translator, who’s away for work a lot, hence was reduced to 0.5 of a housemate :).
The unit is tucked away from the main road and is very quiet except for all the bizarre noises of a London building: some knocking and Tube trains passing underneath.
We also have a tiny outside space overlooking a friendly neighbour’s garden with a hilarious pug running around. The living room and kitchen are quite spacious, however there are not many windows, therefore if you love cooking smelly foods on a regular basis, sadly it’s just not suited for that. We’re happy to have an occasional chat in the living room with a glass of wine, but trying to respect each other’s space and privacy.
About you – We are looking for one non-smoking person over 30 (gender, religion and other preferences are not important) in search of a quiet, warm, friendly and clean household. Ideally you won’t be working from home, unless your job doesn’t require phone calls, zoom-meetings etc. Otherwise the room would make a nice creative workspace. Pets are considered on a individual basis 🙂
This section might sound overly demanding, which is only coming from years of painful experience:
The key aspect of it is very simple – your personal comfort cannot come at the expense of your housemates. We all have to compromise and respect each other to make things work.
And that doesn’t mean polite chitchats on politics or weather. It means:
Clean after yourself. Wipe the surfaces you use. Don’t leave dirty dishes in the sink. Clean your hair out of the drain. Clean the bathtub. Use the toilet brush! (Apparently, it’s not a given...) Clean the communal areas on a regular basis. If you’re not doing it, someone else is doing it for you.
Your room is your space, and you’re free to do whatever you want with it, HOWEVER 🙂
That doesn’t mean you can: keep rabbits, grow illegal substances (no judgement) and store dirty dishes there to a point of attracting various forms of wildlife, such as rats, mice and ants. Wear headphones when your housemates are home. Don’t make noise after 23:00 unless you’re by yourself, or everyone is still awake. You see where we're going? 🙂
Just be aware of other people living with you. And then we can have all the nice chats in the world if we feel like it 🙂
If it sounds like your kind of place, drop us a message with a few lines about yourself and we’ll take it from there. Might not be able to reply straight away, but will do our best!
