Description
Hi! I’m Alex, a live-in landlord looking for someone to share my bright and cosy two-bedroom flat in Bethnal Green/Cambridge Heath.
I’m currently looking for someone for around 2-3 months, although I’m open-minded about something longer if it feels like a really good fit for both of us.
The room is a bright, fully furnished double. It’s a good size and a really comfortable space, although probably best suited to someone who isn’t arriving with a huge amount of belongings.
I’ve lived here since 2012, with a few spells away over the years while travelling and spending time in places like Brighton and other parts of London. I’ve had some really positive flat-sharing experiences here over the years, and I’m looking forward to finding the next one! :-)
Location
The flat is directly opposite Cambridge Heath Overground (Weaver Line) and a short walk from Bethnal Green Underground (Central Line), so transport links are excellent.
Victoria Park, Broadway Market, Columbia Road, Regent’s Canal and lots of great cafés, pubs and restaurants are all within walking distance.
A bit about me
I’m 42 and work at a university as an entrepreneurship adviser. I’m also a qualified child arts counsellor and filmmaker.
I’m creative, open-minded and interested in the arts (music, film etc), personal growth, healthy living, sport, comedy and generally making the most of London.
I’m also neurodivergent, and one thing I’ve realised is that I really value having a home that feels calm, clean, comfortable and considerate.
I’m involved with the Buddhist centre nearby in Bethnal Green, which has become an important community for me.
I don’t smoke, barely drink, and this definitely isn’t a party flat, although I’m sociable and enjoy a chat, watching something together occasionally, or sharing a meal when it naturally happens.
About the flat
It’s a quiet, plant-filled home with a decent-sized living room and separate kitchen. There’s a washing machine, heated airing cupboard, dishwasher and a cleaner who comes once a month.
There’s also a gated car park.
The block has a surprisingly nice community feel, which I really appreciate and can be quite rare in London.
Bills are included - Wi-Fi, energy, water and council tax.
Total monthly cost: £1125 including bills
Monthly rent before bills: £975
Who I think it would suit
Probably someone who values a calm, comfortable home and is happy doing their own thing. I’m very comfortable with us both being independent, and equally happy if we occasionally have a chat, share a meal or hang out when it happens naturally.
Working from home is absolutely fine, although the setup would probably suit someone whose normal week also involves spending some time working, studying or socialising outside the flat.
I’m fairly clean and tidy and would ideally live with someone similar. I don't expect perfection - just someone considerate who naturally tidies up after themselves and communicates if anything comes up.
Friends and partners visiting are absolutely fine too; I'd just like us both to be considerate about overnight guests, noise and giving each other a bit of notice.
If you’re interested, send me a little bit about yourself, including:
1. What brings you to the area / what you're looking for at the moment.
2. What your usual working week looks like, including how often you work from home.
3. What kind of home/flatshare environment you generally enjoy.
Happy to answer any questions too.
Thanks - I look forward to hearing from you! :-)
