Description
A calm and sunny double bedroom is available in my bright two bedroom flat in East London, overlooking the Regents Canal and Mile End Park. The flat will feel almost entirely yours because I live in Oxford and only come to London once or twice per month. It is a peaceful, light filled home, perfect for people who value space, comfort and nature within the city, and it is very much suitable for couples as well as single professionals. There is no additional charge for two people.
The flat is in the E2 area, on the fifth floor of a secure eco friendly development with two lifts, a concierge and bicycle stands. It has a wonderfully open, green outlook along the canal and towards the park. On warm evenings you can sit on the balcony and watch the lights of Canary Wharf shimmer across the skyline while swans and cormorants glide over the water below.
The bedroom itself is generous and very well organised, with a large built in wardrobe, an additional antique wardrobe, under bed storage and bespoke shelves and cupboards. You have direct access to the south facing balcony, so the room and the living space are bright from morning to evening.
The flat is around 68 square metres and has an open plan kitchen and dining corner, floor to ceiling windows and a warm, plant filled atmosphere. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher and washing machine. The balcony offers open views along the canal with trees, birds and wide skies that change beautifully throughout the day. There is a rail line in front of the building which you can hear when sitting outside, but people usually get used to it quickly. There are no cars and no busy streets below, so aside from the trains the area is calm and unusually quiet for East London. The building is very well insulated and soundproof and was a finalist for the Sustainable Housing Award. There is fast Hyperoptic fibre internet, secure entry and a friendly concierge team.
The location is one of the most charming and green corners of East London. Mile End Park, Meath Gardens and Victoria Park are all moments away. Brick Lane, Shoreditch, Broadway Market, Columbia Road Flower Market, art studios, cafes and the London Buddhist Centre are within easy walking distance. The iconic Palm Tree pub, hidden among reeds on the canal, is also close by and brings an old East London magic with its free live music evenings. The Mile End Climbing Wall with its new sauna facilities is just across the water.
Transport links are excellent, with about an eight minute walk to Mile End station on the Central, District and Hammersmith and City lines, and around ten minutes to Bethnal Green station. There are multiple bus routes and a direct National Express connection to Stansted Airport.
The rent for the room is £2100 per month, all bills included, and a cleaner comes every two weeks, so the flat stays fresh and easy to maintain. Move in date is flexible.
You would be sharing the flat with me, a landscape architect who is mostly based in Oxford. I stay in the smaller second bedroom when I visit, usually once or twice per month. My two year old Yakutian Laika will visit with me occasionally - she is calm, affectionate and very well behaved. Most of the time the flat will be entirely yours.
If you feel this could be your new home, please drop me a message to arrange a viewing. I am happy to show the flat in the evenings or at weekends.
Cheers,
Joanna
