Description
Looking for a flatmate to join the lease on a two-bedroom, two-bathroom, two level flat just off Bermondsey Street, in Borough/London Bridge.
THE ROOM
Your room would be the en suite at the rear of the flat, complete with built-in wardrobes, bathroom with shower, and furnished with a dresser and double bed. While we get the occasional noise one expects when living in central London, the room is quiet and peaceful, and the neighbours respectful
THE FLAT
The flat itself is two levels, with the two bedrooms and bathrooms on the lower level, and spacious living area (with open plan kitchen, dining, and living room) upstairs, with high ceilings. The kitchen opens onto a furnished private terrace with lots of greenery, and views of the Shard. That flat is fully furnished (some belonging to the landlord, some to me) and includes a 55" OLED TV, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Apple TV. We have superfast Hyperoptic gigabit internet. There is also a digital piano and Sonos speaker in the living area, and a pretty extensive library that you're welcome to use.
The kitchen is fully kitted out with all the cookware you could need, but space could be made if you have more to bring. The kitchen also has a full-size refrigerator/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, and microwave. The flat is in a secure building with part-time concierge, and can be accessed by stairs or by lift + a few steps. There is a parking space available in the underground garage, but you would need to negotiate this separately with the landlord. There is also secure bike storage in the garage.
ABOUT ME
I'm a 40 year old gay professional (he/him) working in health policy and communications. My job is hybrid, so I'm in the office 2-3 days a week, but prefer a quiet environment when working from home. I'm originally from the US, but moved to London five years ago after living almost ten years in Australia. I equally enjoy spending time at home reading, cooking, or watching movies/TV, as I do going out and travelling or enjoying London. I keep the flat clean and tidy without being a neat freak, and would expect the same of you.
THE DOG
I have a three year old standard Boxer x Staffy named Oliver. He has a lot of energy and loves to play, but more than anything he loves cuddles and belly scritchles. He's is happy, friendly, and well-behaved.
ABOUT YOU
Looking for another professional flatmate who considers home to be a sanctuary. You should be friendly and respectful, and try to keep common areas tidy. I certainly don 't expect a new best friend, but prefer someone who's up for socialising on occasion or grabbing the odd drink. Prefer someone who also part of the LGBTIQ+ community, but at the very least you must be a respectful ally. As you'd be on the lease, you'll need to do the standard checks and fees with the letting agency.
THE ££
Monthly rent includes all bills (electric, gas, and water), council taxes (Southwark Council Tax Band E), gigabit broadband internet, and TV licence. You must be able to commit to a 12 month lease with no break clause, as the landlord is very firm on this.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
This little corner of Borough/Bermondsey is one of the best in London. You're a 5-10 minute walk to London Bridge Railway Station or Borough tube station, and only a couple stops from central London. The flat is right around the corner from Bermondsey Street, with all sorts of restaurants, shops, cafes, and bakeries. There are several grocery stores just a few steps from the building, and several small parks and gardens nearby.
